Why do you use myspace?
It's seriously crap. It doesn't even have Dubstep as a genre. Why do we bother?

put the name of ANY group/musician/producer into google and see what comes up. pretty sure their myspace will be somewhere nr the top of the results. especially if they aint big platinum-selling names.
yeah its shit, but for this alone its essential: basically, if u dont have one, you dont exist.
first place i look if i heard a name and want to check the sound.

although i dont really use it, i think its a good tool to use for getting your name out there, for the time being i just use reverbnation / virb etc....
but i do think i should sort a myspace out.

Myspace ftw I say..
Myspace is better than Facebook, Bebo and Youtube imo...
Yes its owned by Mr Murdoch, but at least he doesn't have dodgy connections to the CIA.... Facebook gives me the creeps.
As part of a marketing strategy, Myspace is essential. Myspace is skinnable. Customising the look to your needs with html/css is fairly easy. Compared to setting up your own website, editing a myspace profile is a piece of piss.
Myspace is a household name. Ask someone about Virb, Soundcloud or Reverbnation and they'll just look at you funny. That in itself is useful when trying to spread the word about your amazing tunes!
Compared to Facebook, I feel more in control of what info people know about me. I hate people tagging photo's of me, updating me about the fact they cut their toenails funny, and asking me to join the 'Free Cuntface' group...
I still enjoy randomly hitting upon artists with sick tunes who I would've never heard of if it wasn't for Myspace. Myspace brought me the likes of Zeno, Thark, D+, Cadava, Ohmwerk, Noiz, Excision, Broken Note & The Widdler. Nuff said.

I have tried all the other sites but I had nowhere near as much traffic, feedback and fans as I have on myspace. I know myspace quality isn't brilliant, but I think it's ok to use as previews and I haven't noticed too much wrong with the sound anyway, way better than YouTube quality imo.
I also think the music player in myspace is pretty cool, it does what it's supposed to do and it shows daily plays and all that.
And yeah I have found myspace is definitely good for finding new artists and networking.
it's the easiest for people to find you on, accidentally or otherwise. sound quality is shit, site often crashes and yes, somehow dubstep is not a listed genre (but emotronica is?) but it's still another website for you to post your shit on.
i'm on myspace, facebook, soundcloud, virb and probably a few others i have forgotten about. you really have to put yourself out there in every place possible.
