Post by kujikuru » Tue May 26, 2009 1:31 pm

hey guys, i'm new to this forum so excuse me if i seem ignorant.....

ne ways, i been makin beats and been uploading to youtube, but want sum feedback too. i'm looking to do more beats this summer after exams after i get sum additional equipment.

check out this new beat i did and let me know wat u guys think....i used garage band on the mac to make the traks and took the drum loop from soundsnap 'cos my drums were $H!T !! i put a depeche mode acapella on it for vocals too. still learning about dubstep.....

Hmm i think the drums sound a little bit crappy...
and a bit variation wouldn't be bad!

yeah, the variation is = 0!!

listenin to other dubs, its easy to hear why.....i thought the drums were clean and simple, i only did the beat in a day so still WIP, but i'm gonna buy sum drum loops samples and take a pik from there.

i'm not sure about the arrangement pattern though...is there a specific pattern to use when making intros, mains and drops??

how u make those bass line "wiggles" - i'm using garage band. i can do them but they follow a uniform pattern (i use the automatiic filter plugin, resonance, instensity and frequency).

is there a specific plugin u have?

To to wobble basses you need to automate an lfo... to get a wobble wich is synchronized to your beat you can get the frequency like this:
BPM/60 = wobble frequency :)
but have a look at different tutorials.. there are a lot!

i often use albino or vanguard for basslines... and sometimes i use a saturation unit to make it sound bigger!

for the drums:
a bit of reverb is nice, but there are big differences with reverb plugins.

i like the youtube track, laid back. but are the snares on 2 and 4? or is there a catchup time after the first measure? no syncopation though,

syncopation???

missed physics classes...u may need to fill me in..

...as for the snares, i got them from soundsnap website cos i can't get my drums to sound crisp...also need to figure out how to get STRONG bass without distortion...my VU meter keeps sticking into the reds....

i got some older stuff too and will look to improve with my new found knowledge...next step is to get vw mk1 golf....
