Dubstep and Drum 'n' Bass go well together
I was into electro house before i was ever into dubstep and i had a small collection of songs that had a slow breakbeat section worked into the middle of the song which were my favourites:
Headshotboyz - Runin' The Show
Kanye West - Homecoming (DJ Kue remix)
Shopliftas - Nasty In The Shade
Calvertron, Banga - Whoop (Rudder's There It Isn't remix)
The Rogue Element, Tom Real, Disco Of Doom - Loud & Clear
Aniki - Hip Hop Thrilla
Aston Shuffle - For Everyone
(all great tunes btw, check them out if you still like electro house)
The other day i found a dnb song that incorporated dubstep into the middle and the end result sounded great:

(not the part at 1:00, the part at 2:48 )
Let me know what you think of dubstep mixed with drum n bass. i think it should happen a lot more.

no, if you try a drum & bass forum you'll find you'll get the same sort of replies but they'll be slagging off the dubstep instead of dnb.eriegz wrote: has everyone officially given up on dnb?.

which is state of the dance music business in general these days. everyone's a dj, and a lot of them want to be "everything, all the time". the software makes it easier too. with so many dj's taking their itunes library and bpm'ing it.....you have to work really really really hard to stand out from the pack, when you choose to have everything in the kitchen sink in one set.syhr wrote: trying too hard to be everything at once really.
martyn and kode 9 , do it really well imo. they play nearly everything in one set, sometimes. music from 1960 to 2009.
Down here there's a bit of a DJ clique, where they all play at each others nights and are all electro/dubstep/breaks/rave djs.seckle wrote:which is state of the dance music business in general these days. everyone's a dj, and a lot of them want to be "everything, all the time". the software makes it easier too. with so many dj's taking their itunes library and bpm'ing it.....you have to work really really really hard to stand out from the pack, when you choose to have everything in the kitchen sink in one set.syhr wrote: trying too hard to be everything at once really.
fair play to them though. there's nothing wrong to playing everything. the point i'm making is that you have to work twice as hard to stand out, because there's literally thousands of dj's doing that sort of thing these days.Akilles wrote:Down here there's a bit of a DJ clique, where they all play at each others nights and are all electro/dubstep/breaks/rave djs.seckle wrote:which is state of the dance music business in general these days. everyone's a dj, and a lot of them want to be "everything, all the time". the software makes it easier too. with so many dj's taking their itunes library and bpm'ing it.....you have to work really really really hard to stand out from the pack, when you choose to have everything in the kitchen sink in one set.syhr wrote: trying too hard to be everything at once really.
