sending out demos

what's the craic?

i see a lot of beat tapes with dozens of tracks on but from experience of being the other side of the desk i know most labels like to have a concise, short but sweet example of what you are up to, say 3-5 tracks

mp3 or wav? will be getting the tracks mastered just for that "finish"

i have webspace so can host away from ad filled services or places like Soundcloud ... will be getting a small pile of 3" CDrs made too as some people still like to receive a disc in the snail mail

anything else i should be considering? method of contact (MySpace or direct label e mail)? setting myself up for disappointment? spend my time more wisely? stop asking questions?

Hi - There're a bunch of threads about this elsewhere in the forum, btw. Search the 'dubstep' and 'production' areas.



Can't give much advice myself as I'm unsigned, too, but the consensus seems to be to get your tunes to DJs, and to try and build a personal relationship with DJs and labels. Unsolicited dubs often won't get a fair hearing - although I'm sure there're exceptions, so it's probably still worth trying.
