Hello, and welcome to the DSF Sample Pack Competition 12 Voting Thread! It's pretty simple; just listen to all the entires, vote for the one you like most, the winner gets to make the next sample pack and run the next competition.

Because there are 24 entries, I had to take the poll offsite (thank you, Constrobuz) and use two sites for hosting. Tracks 1-20 are on the Virb and 21-24 are on my Soundcloud. If I forgot you, please tell me as there's quite a few tracks to keep track of and I've been busy with work/school/my solid gold yacht and may have misplaced it.

On June 16, I'll announce the winner and they can carry on with the next comp.

I was impressed with the quality of the entries, good work guys (and at least one girl), and good luck! :)

I'm listening to these in random order just to further randomize the randomness of the listening experience. SO THERE!

One thing just struck me about the poll, though, seeing as it's external and doesn't require DSF login - opens the possibility of shenanigans - having all your mates get on their computers and vote, even if they don't know fuck all about Dubstep and only listen to that one Madonna record made by Mirwais over and over...

I've thought about it, but I don't think there's much I can do. Be good, people!

Eh. So it's honor among thieves then...

One of the entries had 4 votes already. I sincerely hope it's because 4 different people listened to all 24 tracks as soon as they were posted and knew that the one they picked was the one, but my cynicism says otherwise.

Whatever.

On the plus side, stoked to hear all these entries rockin' the oldskool Junglist vibe.

Another great DSF sample comp. Haven't even listened to all of them yet, but it's been an awseome sonic journey so far. Some pretty darn interesting tracks.

Big up the jungle vibe. That 1 bar jungle loop has many incarnations already! 8)

Oh, and lovin' track 3 for it's honest in your face weirdness.

And yes, honesty please!

Don't give them ideas!
I won't give feedback on each one, otherwise I might give away which one's mine, and I'll feel like a dick if I big my own up, so I'll do every other, unless it's massive. And I'll swap over.
Listening now; 1 was slow, wierd, reesey jungle, it's good though :L
Doesn't quite cut it.
3, A little bit random  Not my thing... It was okay, I guess.
5, what the fuck    this is one creative guy.
I by now conclude, mine wasn't the only strange one. I think that's down to the samples
6: Yeah this one's pretty nice, nothing really attention grabbing though.
8: I really like the intro to this one... And oh wow, I really like the main bit as well, might vote for this one.
9: I love the percussion on this one! Could have worked on the actual tune a bit more, but the percussion, I really like what you've done with this one.
10: I really liked the LoFi DIV thing you put on that thing. Sounds Rusko-y. But with more sub. I also liked what you did with spongebob. you go through to final round

Sorry to everyone else, I can't be bothered to add any more feedback

I listened through, and already cast my vote anyway.

Yeah, I was a bit suspicious of that one... Don't think they're genuine, it wasn't that good....
good to see a few people digging mine, by the way!

Whoa! Some crazy stuff in here! Nice work everyone!

Here is some feedback for the first 1/3rd.

3. WHOA. Weirdness. For real, what's wrong with you :)
6. Interesting one, very gloomy. Great use of effects.
7. Loved the Zomby-esque vibe of the bleepy melody. Felt like the bass was "out" compared to the melody, as was the piano.
8. Very cool synth that comes in a minute and a half in or so. Cool pattern too.

Okay, I am through the first 3rd, have to do more tomorrow or later tonight.

This is my first DSF Competition, so its kinda cool listening to all the tracks and hearing peoples difference in creativity.

I liked a few of these tracks a lot.

I know its been said already but I feel like almost every track has the drumloop used in some fashion, a key component to many of the tracks.

11 - I liked the slow build ups, subtle noises and distorted vocals. Added a lot to the atmosphere.

19 - Even though its pretty much a jungle track, I enjoyed it, more than once... haha

22 - Good variance, kept it fresh, while maintaining a solid rhythm

23 - Awesome mood throughout this track!

Just some select comments!

here is some specific feedback, in random order.

25. Really diggin this, that vocal that nearly comes in is doing it just right.

11. yeah!, those keys at the start are tidy. builds nicely too.

(just an aside, producers, if i like your shit i will turn it up. i've just noticed it again. so don't worry too much about how loud it is.)

8. The record crackle at the start caught my attention, sound design all the way through is spot on.

17. Totally chilled, nice vibes

2. the rhythm has got me moving. really nice drum programming. the mix needs work, though.

19. some jungle styles, nice. those tricky little edits and pitch changes on the drums are making my ears happy.

that's all i can do for now, i didn't get to listen to everything so don't feel left out. :D

little comments...

3.haha wtf

5. loved this, random and glitchy with the low dj screw type vocals and the sweet weird synth riff... that shit was dirty, the only thing i would change is how intense those bubbly sounds were, i loved them but a bit too loud in my opinion i like that shit mellow.

9. very cool use of the samples. the "for you..." sample reaaaally didnt fit in where you put it in my opinion, great job.

10. wow this was huge...

15. awesome

18. hah laughed my ass off when i heard that spongebob sample, holy shit.

19. very good, fast.

20. nice wobbleys

25. reminded me of pinch for some reason, very cool.

24. pretty trippy and creative, wasnt terribly into it but it was definitely interesting and worth listening to.

23. CHILLL, loved it.

22. dont really have anything really to say about this one other than i enjoyed listening to it..

21. awesome tune

enjoyed almost all of them, that was awesome. favs= 5, 9 , 10 ,17, 25, 23
