best subwoofer for a home studio???

Wondering what the best studio sub is (for a home studio). Price is a factor so keep that in mind and don't just give me some overpriced holy grail of all subs plz..lol. I am looking for something that I can use as a reference subwoofer for production use. Obviously since i am in this forum I don't have to stress that fact that I need it for bass heavy music. I have KRK rokit8's and love them but im not sure if I want to go with the KRK sub as well....

what sub should I get???? GO!

still doesn't really help me since I couldn't find a straight answer from any of those. I'm not debating whether or not to get a sub. I just want some reviews on some from people who might have them...

i wouldnt think you would need a sub with the 8's
go with the krk sub i guess considering theyre sorta made for each other and doesnt cost too much

I agree with both of these sentiments.

I do have the KRK 10 sub, paired with the RP5s.

Honestly, it's pretty overwhelming.

I know that the Rokit 8's have pretty good sub response.... but I need more just as a reference. I think I am probably going to go with the KRK 10 or whatever it is called. I just want to make sure that there isn't a better option available.

I'm kinda in the same situation . I've got resolv 65a's and dont know if i should get the corresponding sub or a different one .......hmmmm

If you are going to get a sub - get the one that matches your monitors
but treat your room first

pretty good bass... but i can mostly feel it in my chest not enough on the floor... In most of the tracks I make I can feel the bass enough, but I find in some tracks that I listen too where the bass notes are lower I don't feel it as much. The room isn't really treated per say. regular carpeted bedroom in a house. The room is pretty big and is rectangular like I said it is also my bedroom so I have to have shit step like so:

I have never really considered my setup too much. can someone tell me if I am completely fucking myself with acoustics with the way my room is set up? It seems like shit sounds pretty good.... how would one treat a room properly for a sub?

Well, i'm no expert, but I think you gain like 3dB when you have a monitor against a corner. Also speakers should have equal space apart from any object (like walls) ...I'd move the setup against the large window looking out. Then if you move your bed 90 degrees clockwise and against the right wall, there should be a big improvement.

I might have to try this out. My stuff is really heavy so its gonna take a little pre meditation. can anyone else confirm that this would be the best option? If I'm gonna start moving the furniture in the name of sound(which I totally will because acoustics are way more important to me than comfort for the most part) I want to be sure that it is the best way I could possibly set it up.

or... another good thing to know would be what settings for my monitors I should use that would be best with the way I have it setup now.... don't alpaca me here but like I said I've been to busy learning how to produce to even think about this.

Yep, as ASCII said, turn it round and have it central/symmetrical on the short (window) wall.

Bass trap as many corners as you can manage (bed might do something but not really significant), stop first reflections too ie treat first reflection points. Having speakers against a wall will give about 3dB more low end, dihedral corners more like 6dB and even more if they are in the trihedral corners. But turning it round and having it symmetrical will be a good start and you can go a bit at a time
