"metalstep" ???
i've heard a few people talk of metalstep and ive seen a few sightings without any audio examples. quick question, is it dubstep speed (about 140bpm, halftime) or is it just like a sub sub genre of darkstep which is allready sounding too metal'y anyway. I did search but nothing came up so I guess it's not that popular.

There's a fair bit of dubstep with obvious metal influence within the sound, take some of distance's tunes for example. I think it's basically referring to the heavier side of dubstep that has metal style leanings, just another one of those made up names for stuff like everything really.
I mention Distance because he's the best person who's done/does this style in my opinion.

hope that's some help

As for metalstep, I have been working on a full length album to be called the Slaytanic Dubplate, which will be mostly dubstep remixes of old school Slayer songs. It takes me forever to get anything done, so I expect it to be done sometime before the end of eternity.

i hope metalstep never becomes like an official offset genre of dubstep, mainly cause it's dumb, if you said metalstep to some one they'd think you're on about a ladder haha
I'll just call it metal-influenced-dubstep cause that's not splitting dubstep into too many subgenres which has happened enough allready with drum'n'bass
