Mundo
Dallas, TX / Blip Switch / Dub Assembly
A first generation stateside dubstep and stateside UKGarage pioneer since 2000, Jason Mundo is a veteran in all things heavy. Mundo's Dub Assembly Recordings label continues to release bangers on a monthly basis while touring extensively and consistently through the USA, Europe, and now Mexico as well.
Mundo's crucial weekly UKGarage and Dubstep event "Groovology" was North America's largest UKGarage event from 2000-2005, hosted performances from the likes of MJ Cole, and Zed Bias, and saw the vinyl release of Mundo's hit dubstep track "I Stand Rasta" supported by J da Flex, Kode 9, Hatcha, Caspa, L-Wiz, and more, the hit 4x4 Garage track "Lonely People" (sampling the Beatles Eleanor Rigby) on the Wideboys' label supported by Garage and House deejays across the UK including Martin Larner, DJ Cameo (BBC 1xtra), Richie Vibe Vee (BBC 1 Xtra), the Wideboys and more, and the hit 2step bootleg remix of Keysha Cole's "Should've Cheated" played extensively on BBC Radio 1xtra by DJ Cameo and pirate radio deejays across England.
The Dub Assembly monthly event carries this tradition from 2006 thru 2009 and beyond. Jason is the only American other than Todd Edwards to spin live on BBC Radio 1xtra's Garage shows and to spin In Ayia Napa Cyprus, summer's UKG vacation home. . 2007 and 2008 saw Mundo go on 2 European Dubstep Tours with numerous performances in England, Scotland, Ireland, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Austria, and Germany as well as release over a dozen dubstep releases on the Dub Assembly label, both in digital and vinyl formats including the hits "Still Stand Rasta" supported on BBC Radio One by Mary Anne Hobbs, "Down In the South", "Dead Bloodklat" and dozens more unreleased killa dubs. 2009 has already seen Mundo sign 2 tracks to San Francisco's wicked dubstep and techno label, Blipswitch, and a release is planned on a Dubstep compilation based in Mexico.
2009 and beyond will make Mundo, Jason Mundo, a household name in the bass heavy scene.
