You can't beat The New Mastersounds.

They used to be called The Mastersounds.

Easily the best Funk band I've seen live.

Their 7"s with Rev Chunky on vocals are ESSENTIAL!!!!!!! As are the rest of their releases actually??!!!

The Perceptions (new funk uber-band of superstars)
The Baker Brothers (new LP out now-ish)
Cookin On 3 Burners
The Apples
The Bamboos

err, there's loads more, haven't got my funk head on right now. I hear all the new stuff at work, just need to remember what's out there. I'll be back. :4:

If you want to hear something that funky with being a pastiche of funk, (which alot of funk outfits are), then try Clyde. The Commercial Break website recently reviewed his album. You can hear a sample here -- http://www.commercial-break.biz/hyper_r ... clyde.html. It's surprisingly good. I'm lovin' it...
