Zomboy Sound Design....Similar. NOT THE SAME.

Okay so it's been around and nearly cracked, we all know the terror squad/all is fair sound. But in another one of Zomboy's newest tracks he uses a similar sound but i find it has more grit and just a overall nicer sound (IMO), anyone got any ideas on how to make it?

Soundcloud

The sound hits around 1:23. Same sorta movement as terror/all is fair but again, different sound.

Any ideas?

Yep.

Sounds like a Must Die growl not at all a Terro Squad one.

I think the only thing similar to terror squad is that it has the same or a similar envelope for the vowel shape. I haven't tried to re-create it but I would personally start with a common growl patch in Massive and mess around with the oscillators like the F-square and put it in spectrum mode. Massive growls tend to be set to the bend -/+ mode and it gives that distinct "clicky" or "toothy" sound where spectrum mode smooths things out.

I really like this sound that he made…post it up if you come close.

That is probably the coolest synth on the outbreak ep. It shares a metallic property with the terror squad bass, and the envelope or performer setting used sounds very similar as well, but the immunity bass sounds a lot more textured and interesting to me. it could very well be a similar patch where he modified his terror squad patch to be more vowely and has more pitch bend mods. there's a few oscillators in massive that have that very metallic type tone, that's probably a good starting place. that tune is sick though, i like to jam that one nice and loud.
