tbf, that's exactly the type of "influence" I'm arguing against. i don't think I really took it out of context

"would america manipulate cuba for its resources? sure"

back to square 1? :6:

not sure i get what you mean, what is "exactly the type of "influence" [you're] arguing against"?

well this is getting a bit confusing and wordy, but.....

1) are you arguing against "lifting the embargo and establishing relations"? see, i'd think most of you would be in favor of that, which is why i thought it was so weird that people were arguing against me when i was saying something they are in favor of.

2) i wasn't arguing that it would be a good thing if america manipulated cuba, i was just recognizing that america would do such a thing (trying to show jrkhnds that I get his point and agree with part of what he was saying). my main point earlier in this thread, before it blew up, was that america would not try to annex cuba, and that I was surprised (but didn't necessarily think it was wrong) that someone would draw a parallel between america annexing cuba and russia annexing crimea.

It wasn't a sarcastic big up at all man !

Speaking of annexing or whatever, do read about the take over in panama like phig mentioned.. it's one of the most dreadful operations ever and says a whole lot about how some of these big moves are made.
