Switching from FL, Necessary?

Hey there, Recently everywhere i go, people saying "Oh, FL is shit" blabalblaa.
I am very familiar with Fl studio and know it inside out, but am wondering if i should switch to Ableton/Cubase, because they have such a huge fanbase among producers.
I have used Ableton live on my friends computer, and i just cant seem to get creative inside it lol, i know how to use it, but i just feel cramped inside it, and much prefer the look of FL studio.
And i do like cubase 6 but it just feels the same as FL studio tbh, so i dont really see a need to change to it.
Just wondering what your opinion is, Stick with FL? or should i go to cubase or ableton, If so why?
Thanks alot :corndance:

DAW's are really what you make it. The only difference is some house plugins and the workflow. FL is used by plenty as are all the other ones. Plenty of people have tried to get me to switch over to ableton but I see no point. I started on FL and I can move through it almost effortlessly at this point.

It might be different if you like the interface or workflow of another DAW, but you've said you're pretty comfortable with FL, so why change now. I can pretty much guarentee changing DAW's will not be a silver bullet for you. FL does the same thing as ableton and cubase. Getting rid of FL will not make you a better producer.

FL was a childs toy during the early revisions. Now, however, its more than capable as a full audio workspace. Not worth switching IMO.

FL is every bit as capable as Ableton or Cubase. If you're good with it, and you enjoy using it more, don't switch.

I'd definitely recommend trying other DAWs if you are able to, everyone has different preferences and none of them is really any better than the others. I moved from FL to Logic about 2 and a half years ago and much prefer it but I tried Reason and Ableton on the way and just didn't like their workflows at all. Bear in mind though that it always takes quite a bit of time to get used to a new DAW.

Yea, if you like fl and know how to use it, no need to change. And if you go to FL studios homepage theres a list of "big names" who use FL so ableton/cubase isn't the only way to the professional sounding music.

Ableton takes a good couple months to learn inside and out. You said you feel cramped inside it and can't get creative, that's probably because you don't know the layout and all the options it has. But if you still don't like it after you have gotten to know it then definitely switch back to FL. I have Ableton and FL and I really prefer Ableton to the point where I can't stand working in FL but it I guess to each his own.

Are you comfortable with it?

I used to use FL Studio, made the switch to Ableton because I felt limited.. but we all have our opinions on DAW's.

I have tried most daws and eventually chose ableton. Really I know enough general stuff that I could use anything, the only reason I eventually chose ableton was because a lot of producers I like use it (lol) and because I liked the idea of how I could produce and perform with just one thing and there is no reason to get traktor/cdjs. So If i were you i would just stick with FL. No point in switching if you already know it really well.

As many people have stated already, just use what you are comfortable with because they are all effectively the same. Any one who says otherwise is just a fan boy/knob head.

Try using a different skin if you like the darker look. Its easier to stare at for hours at night

Keep using it. The only reason I started using Ableton was to be able to collab with others that use it and for live performance.

I use FL. I haven't actually tried using any other DAWs though I used to think I might be better off with something like Ableton. But now the more I get to know FL the more I'm sure it's right for me, and honestly I think trying to switch to a different DAW would just fuck with my head and make me feel disoriented every time I try to produce :P

ANY DAW IS GOOD BRO! get some analog outboard gear (anything; guitar pedals [germanium!], compressor, preamp, eq's, record off amp/speaker [mic/air interaction], e.t.c.).

When I hear this DAW suck or that DAW is better (same w/ VST's), there really is no excuse when resampling and OTB options are available. I think people expect stellar sound, when most great studio sound is done by getting sonic colors/character/warmth by utilizing actual interaction of transistors/transformers/tubes/circuitry/diodes/e.t.c. to get a specific tone signature.

IK little off :corndance: :corndance:
