I had a look at those studiomasters and some of them are going for about fifty pounds, they look fun but a bit cheap and crappy, i could be wrong. I like the idea of firewire though as you can just plug it in and mix down. Get your crew members over and mix their tunes down by just plugging in and playing. I think youde use it a hell of alot and get alot out of it. It would be great unless of course the firewire means theres actually no fdifference in sound which would be a tad crazy. Still those studiomasters do look quite cool...Dont look too solid tho

plus the mackie website and even the onyx mixers instruction booklet praise the firwire as 'the best bit' of the mixer..

Although obviously they do just want to sell their kit...best way to go is go to a shop and try it

A mate of mine has a Studiomaster 16-8-2, with an extra 8 channels on the end, its sweet man, solid desk. Its one of the old ones, the newer ones look a bit shabby tho.
