Yeah i quite like this. I think maybe you could have gotten away with a few more atmospheric noises during the intro and even after the drop. Some gated or modulated pads and some sweeps maybe. The beat is tasty. I really like the creepy perc leading into the snare.psy:am wrote:Soundcloud
Heres something ive just finished. Its pretty much done, just some mixing down to do but id love to get some feedback. Ill feedback as many as i can.

Re: PUT YOUR FINISHED TRACKS HERE FOR FEEDBACK.
@dubsac - track in sig
nice intro pads and arp, sounds pretty!
i feel the kick is abit to hard for the trackmaybe a more natural kick would go better.
the bassline sounds sick just needs some more sub on it, just a sinewave would be awesome
overall pretty nice track just a few minor details and it would be all there
if this is a WIP then maybe general mastering tips like compression, limiting and eqing shit like crazy
!!!

One I did before but reworked, sound quality isn't the greatest but my laptop won't let me alter it much without crashing.

props:
+ LOUD mix! you're gettin up to knell's levels here, i dunno how u people do it, honestly
+ Rhythm section comin on strong. Very original beat, really feelin it.
+ bubbles everywhere, feel like i'm swimmin with dolphins, love it
+ dutty lo sub, it's the giant squid lurking below the dolphins. U get the chance to play this out at all? reckon the mix would stand up to some proper megawatts. EDIT: i just gave it a blast, and reckon u could turn the sub up higher... but u better get a second opinion on that
+ i've lost it now, but there was one lickle moment where u switched the rhythm and the pitch of the rim/percussion, kept me guessing
+ 2:09 onwards - this last section is spot on. dolphins on acid...
advice:
- 2:38 the squid ate the dolphins too soon! i wanted them to peak on their acid... i mean, respect for keepin it under 3 mins. if u wanna keep it that length, can u take some bars out of the earlier sections, so that last section gets more of a run?
- 2:08, on second listen, i'm thinkin that if u do work on it, u could give us some warning before this section? not gonna use the word "drop" cos i respect that's not what you're going for, but a signal of some sorts would be nice...
overall:
that's sht hot. "being playful with the form" absolutely. Very original, very minimal, very likely to get played out if u could get it on vinyl. I've heard DJs play on that kind of tip for 30, 45mins straight, messing with new rhythms and repetitive subs - seriously think some1 might want this. Really impressed bruv, got any more?
peace, out
heres another i just finished. hope it's not too loud.

Re: PUT YOUR FINISHED TRACKS HERE FOR FEEDBACK.
alllllllrighty guyz... while i'm not busy pissing off the entire EX7/Rottun crew and the rest of my heroes, or making new, genre-bending tracks (will post later).... i'll get some reviews in!!!
@DubSac, head over to:
http://www.dubstepforum.com/this-thread ... 74832.html and use PMs (to me or anyone)
for your mixing/mastering/EQing needs... lets keep non-track-specific issues out of this thread, just to keep it tidy and whatnot
@1iO - "Knell's levels" hahaha.. ya, i do go a bit nuts trying to master my own tracks, since i suck at it.. i recently read in the thread (linked above) not to worry about level until i send it off to get mastered professionally, so this trend will change, im afraid, as im just trying to get my mixes right and clean, these days
alright... lets do this!!!

let me know what you think
oooooOOOOOooo, ill repeat my reaction when you told me you have new tracks on myspace last night: "YESSSSS EVERYONE CHECK EM OUT"
anyway, i'm all over this one!!! Its been awhile!
JFloyd - "Darkside"
props:
+Mista floyd themeDub!!! pro
+intro is definitely suitable, delayed guitar is nice, metallic and ominous
+drop hits you in the face
+nice measure endings!!! this and the automation rounds out the melody nicely
+glad you have classic Mr. Floyd "Giant-machines-coming-to-destroy-you" sounds... classic
+gah your synths are heavenly
advice:
-eh? star wars? okay, well first off you did it like a pro so i cant complain too much, but i hope you're a true fan of the series, because, well its been rinsed quite a few times by many, many people... in fact theres a Reason ReFill dedicated to just that, its sitting in a folder of mine somewhere.. not just that, but the vader-breaths and "lack of faith" samples are pretty much the most used samples in this pack... but you did it better than 80% of those who try, so dont take this to heart... biggups my man on showing em how its done!!
-First drop/riff = Second drop/riff... i want it to get HUGE and bloody by the end!!! i know you can do it, dont hold back on meh!!!
-Now that i think about it, the drops could be slightly more pronounced... i mean you have the rising high freqs but people need to be a little more prepared for such a brutal drop..! Mixing it with the normal flow will make people go

-The break in the middle there is a little long, considering its basically a reprise of the intro
overall:
=you left me

Re: PUT YOUR FINISHED TRACKS HERE FOR FEEDBACK.
Dr. Bio - "Serious"
props:
+Dr. Bio goes dreamy on us!!!! im impressed man, definitely pushing your sound to different themes/ideas, which i definitely respect
+still keep the intro minor tonality, in good form, so i knew it was gonna get sinister
+i was right!! (1:11)
+good n' grimey
+nice super sub drops and high freq wubz, really give the song a unique feel
+driving high hats, always a favorite of mine
+not normally a fan of bells, but with that lunatic sample, really give a lose-your-mind kinda feel, biggup
advice:
-alright, i like bells, just with plenty of reverb and put low in the mix, but these are good
-flow seems a little staggered, could definitely blend a little more
-really gonna need to spice up one of the later drops unless you want a more oldschool grime track kinda sound... but those tracks really bore me after 3+ min... thats just good ole ADD Knell tho..
-really just needs a little more pronounced drops as well, that lunacy sample muddies it up and is a little confusing to the clubbers... but if this is for the albums i can see it working as-is
overall:
=clever and catchy, much more melodic, softcore, and grimey than the previous songs of yours ive reviewed.. im glad you dont go balls-to-the-wall on every track, it keeps the clubber, the album buyer, the record label, and (most importantly
) Knell, happy and listening to see what will come next. keep it up!!

Soundcloud
props:
+intro is a dreamer!! kinda makes me feel like im on a boat... strange
+oo, gorgeous vocal, nice pick
+high freq churns make me feel even more like im on a boat... maybe i just need to go to out to sea today or something haha
+that drop... man. gonna be killa once its done
+Reminds me of something Benga would pull during his live shows.. mixing beauty vox in with massive drops
advice:
-hmm. needs more as far as ambience goes in the intro/breaks... or some spicier, non looped sounding drums.. one or the other, or both
-woah. really cant tell what the issue is with the gritty in the track.. is it clipping? or the audio out? might be clipping because, the quiet parts are more tolerable than the drops, and the soundcloud looks peculiar.. i would take this to a stronger PC and definitely make sure its not a clipping issue
-vox need some reverb, or other FX, to sit in the mix a little better and add to the dreamy vibe, or maybe a little chopping up and clever placement.. sounds a bit like track-over-track, if you know what i mean
-also, while im on the vox... at some points they almost seem distorted, dont know if this is bc of the same issue as the rest of the song? but at times it seems like time warping distortion
-i know its called silence, but i was expecting a little bit less silence (very fine line) before the drop... gotta get that timing just right, just picture yourself on the other side of the speakers, when you would want it to drop? if it sounds good to you, then keep it
-need high hats that dont sound like a skipping cd (to me), maybe a crash/reverse crash to fill out the high freq percussion and drive the song a little more
overall:
=this song has quite a bit of potential!! nice picks on ambience and the vocals, once the programming is filled out a bit, and the distortion issue is solved, would definitely love to give it another listen!!

The violin/string type stuff is nice, goes well with the drums
0:15- nice sounding drums
1:12-1:14-nice buildup there, nice bass sound too. its not very frequent, but the off and on kinda thing sounds pretty sick with the rest of whats goin on.
2:22-nice sound agian
Sick track man, that was pretty sick for a first try. well done
Re: PUT YOUR FINISHED TRACKS HERE FOR FEEDBACK.
Okay so i changed some stuff in this track, i "tried" to eq the kic, but im not sure if i got it down...feedback would be awesome, thanks guys!
