This forum has been of immense value to me. Some very skilled folks here.
Been making tunes for some time but this the first I have ever really been happy with.

Very cool drums! Imo you should add some reverb to those vocals, they sound very dry right now. Sounds good overall, just not digging the vocals too much

@3za: Loving that Light and dark track. The subbass works really well with that flute. I like the swing on the shakers as well. Overall good track.

@Basic A: As always, solid production. Dig the minimal style beat with that sub. At times I feel I want more, but then when you do give more I kinda miss the parts where there isn't a lot going on. It's a very strange feeling when listening to a track. I think the only thing I didn't like was the snare...but not all the time. There were just a couple parts that I wasn't digging the snare, but once you brought everything back together the snare sounded great again. Overall, awesome and amazingly trippy track.

@Bolsty: Feeling that Reflection track. Love the subtle sub, and the percs work really well together. Is that a guitar, or just some trippy synth work? Good stuff man, keep it up.

@Max4beats: That New Life track is pretty sick. Love that rise into the first drop. The vocals work very well, and the melody sounds awesome. Overall, pretty solid track, good stuff.

@Samkablaam: Really like that Style track. Sub is huge! Very nice minimal style beat. The pads are awesome and the percs do a good job accentuating the entire track. Good Stuff.

Well, I was without the internet at home for a good week, so I decided to start working on a new track. Don't know what to call it as far as a genre. I think it's more garagey than dubstep, but I think it's a bit of both. You can download it, but the soundcloud version is only 192. I'll post a 320 up on mediafire or something and leave the link in a comment on the track.

Sounds good for a first dubstep track, the bass sounds abit dull though and messy, but thats something you learn by the time, drums sound good!

The drums reminds me of Burials tunes, and thats great! Nice mellow pad and soft synth @ 0:30, drop is sweet, nice sub

This definitely needs more reverb, it sounds very very dry! Good ideas though mate! Nice vocals too

@ Ratraceproductions- Add more to that intro and try keep the bass harmonising with other elements of the track,like the atmos around 1.30 sound nice id personnally work and build this. Good work just needs a bit more and tightening up a touch.

@ Steeze- Watch that vocal at the start,way to high in the mix.tighten them break samples with some automation,when it drops it doesnt seem to get the full weight of the track,need to tighten them breaks and that bline. Good ideas tho the atmos was nice,just try tighten things up bud.

@ Ninthy4- Like that intro, heavy track,cant really criticise it too much as it isnt really my thing. But i appreciate its potential to smash and this probably wud smash many dancefloors. Really good work.

@ninthy4 - awesome dude! sounds a lot like datisk; you seem to have this genre pretty down :D maybe the synths need to be louder, but i dont really notice anything else
@JensMadsen - not bad for a first timer. keep practicing and you'll get everything down well; the mix lacks and i think there needs to be more presence. also, a lot of reverb, try to not get sunk into that

Im liking the synth lines they got a nice arabic vibe, the high pitched wonky one is very good. not really sure on the bassline, I think I would make it less harsh as it clash with the vibe of the other synths. the synth at 4:05 sound to hard panned to me, bring him in a little bit more. For your first dubstep track this is a good effort, keep it up

@ voodeedoo, I Love tracks that sound like this, nice and simple and very melodic. I always start tracks a bit like this but never finish them
If I was you I would try, and make this longer, could be a very good tune with some work imo.

brilliant man, great to hear somebody doing something a little different, some great sounds and really top notch melodies and bass progressions in there, lots of variation and cool ideas and great production value, reminds me of an action movie soundtrack at times, very slick piece man.

@ Kinsky some nice sounds in there man, just a suggestion but you should think about getting yourself a soundcloud page or a myspace to showcase your tunes, you'll get more feedback on those mediums than by putting your stuff on file sharing sites but yea, like i said, some cool sounds and a good grasp of what your doing in that "the writer" tune on youtube, nice work bro.

@ kidstrange great vibes on that tune, real old school feel, lovely synths fading in and out and great stabs, nice build up too and lovely work on that sub, props man. Tune in your sig is solid too man.

@ Synth177 not sure what i make of this one to be honest, but it's just personal taste on that count, your production value is really solid for a first dubstep tune,

@ ilv1 I can't really comment on whether this is good drum step because it's not a genre i've ever listened to but it's certainly a good tune man, seriously nice work, great sounds, really nasty glitchy effects really add to it, props. love those massive drums too.

@ Aez really dark and cool tune man, great note choices the whole way through, really just a perfectly crafted piece of work, nice one

@ WIFE some nice sounds there, cool beats and nice vocal samples cut up nicely, gives off a really 90s vibe in a good way, i like it I can't tell if I agree with Aez on the reverb thing, it should be a fairly simple issue, but I dunno I think either way, with or without the reverb it sounds good, I don't think it would add to it, but I don't think it would detract from it either. Personal taste on that one I think. But yea, overall it's a good piece of work and very listenable.

@JBE lovely intro, those little strumed string parts remind me of joe satrini's early work, lovely flute parts, the more of this I listen to the more I feel a crippling sense of tune envy. This is one of those tunes you listen to and wish you had wrote... It just dropped... I hate you... Seriously what the fuck... That tune is just ridiculously good, gtfo of this forum you're making everyone look bad. That lead and bass and those strings and the flute combined... perfect note choices, perfect vocalization of those notes, perfect. Just please, never make anything this good again or I'll feel like shit for not being able to compare. My only solace is knowing you take the same harmonic distortion damage as I do from soundcloud.

I am in no way a production pro--I kinda teach myself as I have time, so take anything I say with a grain of salt haha.

Wife: I really enjoyed the spatial placement of your pads, it helped give the track a really open feel.

JBE: That 'guitar' sounding synth that comes in with the first drop makes the whole song, it sounds amazing.

redjuan: Nice atmosphere, I can get behind that bass too, very soothing song.

But anyways, I did a remix of This Plane by Wiz Khalifa.. It's a total genrebomination, so it might take some untrained ears.

@710: This is sick, wicked catchy bro. Nice work. A little variation would take this song to the next level (Maybe sidechain the synth for a few beats then go back to the gated sound so its like "wwwWWAHH, wwwWWAHH wwWAH da da da da da da da".. If that makes any sense lol).

@Kaiori Breathe: For some reason I'm not too big on ambient dubstep (unless I'm tripping haha), but I really enjoyed listening to that. You got some really dope sounds going on there.

@Voodoodee: I agree with 3za, make this longer. This has potential to lead to a very filth-filled bass drop. If you kind of use the melody you got going already, change it up a little and make some wobbles out of it, this track would be a killah.

@Ninthy4: Filthy. Perfect track man, I dunno what else to say.

So this is my new track right hurr. I poured my heart, soul and dozens and dozens of hours into it. Everything was made by me, including the guitar part I recorded.

thanks dude, It's a synth i made in subtractor in Reason from memory, i can't remember how i made it even i started that tune way earlier in the year and only recently got the time to finish it properly.

Kaiori: as usual, killer track, not much constructive feedback i can give so yeah... sick track bro , actually kind of disheartening to see you consistently come up with awesome tunes and yet you dont seem to be signed, sincerely hope your time comes, you deserve it

71o: nice synths and song structure, but the mixdown could need some work imo, the beat is a bit drowned in the rest of the elements and i'm not sure about how the vocals sit in the mix either, maybe they just arent loud enough, dunno

FluidMoshun: awesome work, love the stuttering synth that comes in at 1.46, i would have used this sound more... quite amazed at how you manage to keep the track interesting throughout by bringing in new elements/changing the pace while still keeping a sense of cohesion, although while the guitar works well from a melodical standpoint i'm not sure it blends well with the rest of the track, also the mix seems a bit muddy at times... but still overall really a good track

Incida: To be bluntly honest, well it sounds like a first track, the beat is basic and the drums sound way too much unprocessed and lack variations, same for the wobbles (sorry if i sound harsh, but i'm being honest) so where do you go from here ? well you have a lot of reading to do, if you havent been directed there yet, read this http://www.dubstepforum.com/this-thread ... 74832.html best post on dsf ever imo, so yeah i know its not really helpful, but read about production techniques, read a bit about music theory (nevermind those who say you dont need it to produce good tracks, no you dont need to study it for 8 years, but you need at least to grasp the basic concepts), listen to your favorite producers to understand how they structure tracks, practice, get on your DAW as often as possible and more importantly have fun doing it

Kaiori Breathe - very very cool track.
Ninthy4 - Brostep is not my thing but you have serious production skills.
JensMadsen - very good first effort. Try switching up the cymbals and percussion a bit, will give the tune more dynamic.

one thing though.. using my hearing - this sounds right - but on a spectrum analyzer I noticed i ain't using the high freqs too much... is that a problem? if so, how can I solve this w/o emphesizing the HH and cymbals?
