How easy do you find it to keep on track with a tune? Do you abandon tracks easily or do you keep going till you finish?
I am not very familiar with your history but how did you start to promote your music once you got a little bit of a name for yourself?
After making your first "big" tune (as in one what people really like) did you find it hard to follow up on it?

If I ever get bored of a tune I just chuck it, no point being bored...production and creativity should be fun.
I think it was very hard to follow up a tune like 'Please' and especially when your debut was on a label like Hyperdub and your weren't expecting any reactions. I've only just come to terms with the fact that not every tune will be as 'big' as my debut. I sometimes feel like people expect me to bang out bangers all the time or they think I'm some superhero here to save the scene or whatever...It's not like that, I just like making tunes that make ME feel something.
I think the best way for me to promote my music is to keep on gigging and just stay true to myself.

OK.
Firstly, cheers for putting out some really nice tunes.
Secondly, this may have been asked already, but how do u divide your time between giging/writing/recording and general living.
Thirdly, who's your favorite artist (as in pictures!)
Fourth, what's your fave kind of coffee (normal/latte/espresso?) or do you prefer tea.
Sorry, just curious
Ta.

Great Questions.
A normal music day at home would be (which is usually 2-3 days in the week)...wake up between the hours of 11am-2pm, eat, check emails and run errands, mix, make tunes, eat, mix, make tunes, watch some tv and snack, mix and then bed from about 2-4am. It's quite relaxed.
I don't really know much about art.
I drink tea everyday but I do like all kinds of coffee, it depends how I feel really

I can't really think of any decent questions, so I'll just say you are a real inspiration and you should come down to NZ some time!

hi ikonika,
Quick questions.
when making tunes did you or do you ever compare your music to others in the sceen and doubt weather your tunes are up to the sames standard?
or do you just do your thing and are happy with that.
Did you have alot of 'fans' or interest in your music before you started sending tracks to labels or do you not really care what people think of your tunes?
Thanks in advance... lovin your work big up!

Please =

So big up for that one.
Do you reflect on the music you have made? And do you think about the music you plan on making (i.e. directions, ideas, techniques)? Or is music-making an entirely intuitive process for you?
In the light of Kode9's new book, have you any thoughts on the place of your music in the wider culture?
EDIT: changed the wording a bit to make the questions clearer. Apologies if these are difficult questions, btw. Just curious about this stuff. Feel free to ignore.

Ok I've got one. You say you use serato, so how many of your own finished tunes do you take on your laptop when you play out? 15? 50? 100? And do you prefer it over CDJs then?
thankee

Do you fear you will ever get "stuck into creative conformity" ? meaning... your stuff gets lumped into a specific style?
