omni trio - renegade snares, it's like 155 or there abouts but you can pitch it down to like -6 on ur decks and it'll mix into dubstep, sounds pretty cool when the cluttered amen kicks in over what ever half-step stomper you got playing on the other deck

LD vs. Cluekid - Jay's Reece. I know Cluekid has been mentioned but hadn't seen this one on my quick dredge through the thread. Definitely fits the bill.

Still supposedly in stock on wax here:

Or you can get it on the Ringo Records compilation CD/digital:

Don't know if they've been mentioned but the latest WAR(019) is 2 Dark / Swarm '95 which are both good jungle tunes and the latest disfigured dubz (013) is Fallin' by Phaeleh but it has a wicked junglistic remix by Kulture on the flip.

here's a piece of my mind on this style's name (i think there's many threads on the importance of genre's names and definitions of styles)Be sure to understand Im not trying to outline a manifesto here ..dont worry

i think its funny how the best name for this kinda sound is just simply "140bpm jungle" And i really like that.

It sounds more like a musicians discriptive term to me..A bit like J.BAch saying to one of his students "play one of those french staccato bits on the high chords of your violin" I mean ..Its not like some "backalley dj-kid" came up with a name for it and had his friends tell their friends.
We've all had to explain "what is dubstep" at some point to someone in the past few years. Often i found myself explaining the idea in a very general way just beacuse (especially round 2005) the style had so many different musical vibes in there I just couldnt say it was just dub or just garage or just jazzy..it had many faces. At those days the whole jungle at 140bpm wasnt a real part of dj's sets.. although There where people making it. It seemed to me as-if the "dub/2-step dj's thought the breaks where a different road..one they shouldnt go on
As far as i know the first few to experiment with the "cut breaks" and "jungle sound" in anything to do with the post2000 140bpm sound" where the artists ..dubchild/search & destroy/Toasty/Darqwan/protocol x/dj zinc/dj hype/mark1.. of course you'd find a occasional junglistic trek on a nu-koolbreaks b side. or on a 2-step flip..but Most of these things where labelled BREAKSTEP because it still had alot of garage/2-step ( (<--with exeption of dubchild's and toasty's productions on STORMING..those werrent garage :u: ) Alot of style-labelled breakstep, to me, sounded more like a 2step tune in which they sampeled a classic funk-roll/break to make the beat instead of the stripped clean kits they'd normally use.

For me the only real distinction between jungle and dNb (i know this is dangerous shit to write) is the Funkbreak "cut" in every single jungle tune.
At the time people started calling it "jungle" producers had the machinery to actually cut and rearrange the breaks they sampled. Instead of the previous years of jungle tekno and rave .. where the breaks where mostly looped and creatively triggered samples. After the jungle days the must to sample a break became less important. Due to the loss of formula Drum n bass opened up a wider range of choices for the musician, A big musical plus in dNb but for me that was the moment i kinda lost intrest. ok ok i must admit there where still alot of dNb producers sticking to the oldscool sound but those gritty dubby bouncy (lets find that one unique break) days where sorta over...

As far as i know, the first two actual dubstep producers to fuck with junglebreaks publically where (correct me if im wrong) CLUEKID and RSD.
The first time i heard RSD's "pretty bright lights" and cotti & cluekid's "the legacy" I thought to myself hold on .. this dubstep thing might be going on a trip down the "i like" road.
Its really hard to find tunes in this sound pressed on vinyl. Every time i find one i get the whole "Cratedigging for jungle" feel. At first i saw the whole sound as a sideturn from dubstep.. but a few years later its become more like a style/vibe by itself. Although i do feel an almost "elitist musthave" for tunes with breaks that are CUT and not looped.(I had the same feeling with jungle back then).

now back to the subject.. The reason I THINK its a nice development we call this sound "140bpm jungle" is because the samples, the breaks, the cuttings, the basses, the entire feel of most of these tunes can only be called JUNGLE with the one musically distinct difference being the velocity....
It really is the only right name for it... we can't go and call it ehhm SWURVE or BLENDER ... its just slow jungle..
