Non-dubstep = Venetian Snares. Probably get some hate for saying that, but its the truth.

Jack Sparrow, Quark, Ruckspin, Planas, et al. Up there with (even surpassing) Vex'd (their collab tunes are always flawless)
Vex'd were a MASSIVE influence. Such a shame they didn't get anywhere near the amount of recognition they deserved.
Jamie mixed-down our first release 'miserere'... Legend.

Yeah from a purely technical standpoint, Vex'd all the way. They're in a league of their own. Wouldn't necesassrily say they make the best choons (well they do, along with a handful of others), but their sound design, mixdowns, etc are all perfection. And GOD that sampling.

I'd rank Toasty as probably the best songwriter in dubstep. He does some incredible things with some very simple tricks. I'm not even saying that the dude's production aren't tight, cuz like everything he does IS tight as fuck, but it's those build ups, melodies, basslines, breakdowns.. etc that do it for me. It's all about timing and writin' a good melody. Annnd 'The Knowledge' has like the best drums ever.

Been in awe of Truth in the past couple days... did I miss something or have they not been mentioned yet? Listening to their shit makes me want to give up production and keep trying harder at the same time.

*guitars. They do write catchy stuff. But, they play with tracks when they do live which has always been off putting to me.
