Ahh, smooth! I thought you meant the entire thread... I thought that would have been more worthwhile personally.

So... I just read through all these post (long mission but yeah)
I can see two main ideas:
Rep system
Elite members things
Both have up's and down's. But i think i would rather go for the elite members idea. I have seen it work. But don't make the threads private so noobs can't see. cuz we all got to start somewhere, and reading is normally a good start for some. So i think a elite system should come in place, but that raises the issue of what makes a elite member? Number of post..? How many friends you have? have how releases you have? How fast you can make a wobble ? None is the answer, and this is why this idea is flawed. I seen in in place, and people start to "bum lick" to get in...
I'll tell you a story (tea time everyone

)
Before i got into "dubstep" i use to be a Uk G head, or more specificity a speed garage head. And what had happened was Speed garage came from house. So its just a 4x4 beat with a baseline, and other elements basically , but then is started to change (as music does) Bassline house and organ came. Which was petty good still, mixing was great, musically great as well. But then "bassline" came, which was still ok, it kind of lost of the vibes of the music but still tight production. Then... 4x4 came or known as "niche" which fucked everything up, the bassline were so weak and painful i could cry, mixing... what mixing? 16 year old kids on FL or reason, on sony speaker. off key vocals, no musical knowledge or sense. Fucked everything up! and while this change was all happening (took about 6/7 years) there was one forum which was the place to be! everyone was on it, include the big boys! its was like the DSF of baseline, but then cuz of the week production, they started to add rep systems, which failed because of spammer, "C3 wobble heads " in dubstep terms, and we tried everything to bring up the love of the music and forum but, unforuantely it didnt work ,and the site when dead! no on came on it! ( i wonder how its doing now)
In essences get kid of the dubstep wobble head kids, and use a elite idea, let them see everything but not post everywhere. And about how to be elite i dont you about that. work it out.
Don't let DSF DIE...!

It's a slippery slope indeed. I do not feel that more division is needed at this time. Just support the topics that are relevant to you, let the other ones pass and keep it moving.
EZ

This does seem to be the best idea, like today I've been on here few several hours just posting on the threads that are interesting to me, and ignoring the others, and guess what... the threads I like are at the top because I post on them bumping them to the top... If everyone did this instead of alpaca bombing crap threads it would just magnify this.

Don't you remember getting that one killer piece of advice from someone more experienced than you? Don't you remember reading something written by someone who had more experience and learning a lot cos it wasn't locked away or hidden?
Big Up Macc. I read the mixing down thread many times - was so useful. I love jazz.

Sounds reasonable.

I think the biggest misconception about my intention - is that somehow I (or anyone else) look down on those who are less experienced.
Everyone starts out as a beginner - and everyone (including those who have been at it for decades) always has more they can learn. I also said from the beginning that I am not thrilled about restricted authoring. Perhaps it is more of a way to sort the threads or something - dunno. I agree that keeping threads on topic will help, and the temptation should be resisted to constantly turn each often redundant thread into a 5 page battleground.

Deletion is a touch strong but that's sort of what I had in mind.
Perhaps the mods (ie Sharmaji

) could have a(nother) text file on their desktop to paste in, then lock the thread..?
'HOW DUZ I MAYK DA PHAT WOBLZ PLZTHX?'
'This thread has been locked by the moderators as it is a repost of a common question. Please see [link] , [link] and [link].'
Sinks to the bottom, OP would either naturally read the links or be the sort of bellend this place could do without, job done. It's more work for the mods.... but is it, really?

Bang on, that's my main feeling really (hello Mad EP btw!). And tbh it's half purely from totally selfish reasons; one learns a lot from helping people. You have to really be clear in your own mind to give meaningful and concise - or at least useful, I'm not very good at concise - help IMO. It helps one's own development. Putting a divide in place serves nobody.
IMO etc

Yeah I like the forum heads being all levels, I wouldn't say I am an expert (but can hold my corner) nor a beginner... I don't "REALLY" benefit from the forum but I like helping out people and having discussions, not being funny yeah but do you lot just want a new area so it doesn't get filled with how do I make datsik wobble sounds or just a place where you can say fancy words what people don't know about?
Seeeeeeeeeeeeriously elitest thread, why not just add people you admire productionwise to AIM?

I learn more from the battlegrounds

The tension sometimes brings valid points up that can be elaborated upon.
I want there to be threads dedicated to Brostep vs Dubstep, Digital vs Vinyl, Mac vs Pc, Opinions on Mt Eden, Bum lick Burial, Yo Mama jokes, Alpaca Porn, etc stickied instead of always being disregarded as irrelevant. These topics last and people always have opinions on them, sticky them so they're not bought up again in a new thread

I am very upset no one mentioned me for the l33t forum
Unless of course I was mentioned after page 3 cuz I was too mad to read the rest
Honestly I don't care what you do, I am fine with the board the way it is. I prefer chaotic message boards where I can post Aplaca's on a whim. Rules = don't like tbh. Production forum is serious business and I am a sad panda for that fact.

I completely 100% understand that was a serious post, but, it raises a valid joke, the idea that any forum I was coding and Deadly, Whyrez, Sharma, Mad EP, Legend4ry n Serox were staffing... forum would be un-fucks-wit-able....
Edit...
I want Serox and Tripwire on staff too...

Corrr blimey could you imagine me and Serox AND Deadly as admins, we're complete dickheads hahahaha! Everything would be locked.

Ahhh yeah but the bullshit threads wouldnt exist now would they?
And Depone abz and dza, your on my hyporthetical Id admin these people list,
But seriously, the only thing noone can decide on is how to decide whos allowed in... Not big on the whos released idea because thats enoug to make me regret ever turning anything down. You cant do that some people like said do this for themselves not for anything like that. Yeah. And some labels are mickey mouse as hell... Just cause thier signed doesnt mean they know ANYTHING.
Rep system doesnt work.
And IDK what else to say

What we need to do is alpaca bomb the good threads so that they're constantly being bumped.
Or maybe temporarily sticky them?

Not a completely horrible idea. The alpaca could be like a symbol of quality
