the start sounds great but i didn't realise a vinyl could lose so much of the hi frequencies towards the end...
gonna go for a 12" next time

Well its not real mastering so it probably wont sound as good as it would going through a proper master then onto a vinyl. Would you not go for an acetate?
I wish transition weren't so pricey, they charge £10 for postage, but their records look sick

Got a 12" from Transition this time, track is in my sig. Was gonna get this cut on a 10" to keep the cost down but after reading some useful comments on this thread decided to stick with a 12"

I got a 12inch acetate cut recently from turnstyle out of cali. 6blocc gets his dubs cut there. It was $48 for 2 tracks with optional +6db boost. they both sound good. If they were properly mastered they would obviously sound better. I'm gonna try a different service on my next 2 so I can compare quality. I agree that everyone that is into producing should at least get one pressed up on either acetate or vinyl. When it came in the mail...ahhhhhhhhh yeh! Dropping the needle on it for the first time, wow...can't beat that feeling....playing it out....siiiiiiiick!!!!!!!!!!!! DO IT!!!!

Yeah tell me about it, was going to stick with Precise Mastering as they used to be cheaper £45 for a 12" I think, now its £60! Plus postage so decided to try out Transition. I've cut at Precise before, well recommended but £60 is too much.
Mainly chose a 12" over 10" as I reckoned the high freq loss would be less on a 12" with it being bigger? Maybe there the same but I thought more space for the grooves can only be a good thing in terms of level and skip resistance. I think Skream said on his RBMA lecture that 12" dubs sound better, who knows. They look better to me too, I don't cut that often so an extra £10-15 for something I've made, yeah go on then :]

Saw a Compa set on GDTV where he played 70% dubplates.
Problem is i think Vinyl as a whole is (sadly) decreasing due to prices. The amount of clubs that only have CDJs are increasing. I'm looking to move over to Serato, so you get the best of both worlds.
There are some producers that still cut to acetate on a regular (DMZ, etc.).
Long live the Dubplate.

if i/we (injector) get a track released then its def getting a pressing. have been looking at dub studio for some time now

Probably try Dub Studio next, think its a good idea to try out different companies and it keeps the scene and dub cutters healthy by spreading the work about. Also want to cut at Dubplates and Mastering in Berlin too.

I want to try dub studio too as the 12" come to the same price as a 10" at transitions. But the transition plates look so sick.
Comments on dub studio 12"s?

Dub Studio seems very good value for money, based in Bristol and David Kennedy only has good things to say so I'm game:
"12 inch vinyl, they sound big. I don't see the point of tens really. They look nice but 12 inches sound better, and don't really cost much more, and if its vinyl it doesn't really weigh much more either"
