Ah man, I had a vote, then whoever voted for me changed their mind. Then a couple days later I had a vote again AND NOW IT'S GONE AGAIN! Why so cruel?? XD

Yeah if the person I think didn't make Titans I'll be very surprised. I kinda wish I had voted for Titans now, it has longer lasting appeal but I wont change as the one I voted for is definitely my second favourite but it has no other votes :\ word.

Mimic head and shoulders above the rest for me. My type of dubstep, and the track sounds confident in a way most of the others don't,

I really didn't feel that one tbh, wasn't even in my top 5. No offence to whoever made it, just didn't catch my interest at all. How 'Sally Is A Slut' hasn't got more votes is beyond me. I think 'Titans' sure deserves to win but surely that should be second??

Sample 3, the one with the vox "and climbed your love as if it were a tower" what the fuck is that song, it's fricking sick. Anybody know the source? I can't find it.

Fuck it, here are my totally subjective reviews.

Glitch Hop - Hell yeah! had me hoppin around like a madman! I have no idea how you got that mech sound, but it’s pretty fuckin sweet, and you played the fuck out of it, well done. Hopefully if you were to work on this more, you could get more intricate with the perc rhythms cause the palette of the tune is real solid. Fuckin awesome track. It’s impossible not to move to it. It’d be real cool if I could snag a 320 :)

Sample Master - AKA rhythm master! Insane roll-age! I just didn’t like in the 2nd half when the grainy synth was a lot more prominent, it overpowered everything, and i couldn’t hear as much of the delicious percaliciousness. You got my vote though cause i’m a sucker for the intenz beatz :) You gonna work on this any more? Would love to see a more developed product.

Fight Fight Fight - Had to turn off my sub for this one hehe. Great moody track, there’s a certain tension in it. Favorite part was the vocal breakdown, nice work! I thought the vocals needed to be more powerful, though. The synth that comes in around :20 I gotta say sounds pretty stale, too.

Fat Red - Such a solid tune. Best drop, imo. There’s that kinda throwback 80’s sounding synth in there that just tears it up! All kinds of colors going together real nicely for a great palette. Buildup’s spot on, too.

The Sand - Those pads and atmospheres are so sick, dude. My favorite part, could listen to them all day :). I think there’s too much contrast in your two bass pitches, though, one is much harder to hear and the other is a little overpowering. Really noticeable on my sub, not so much on my phones, though. Is this intentional? Good warm, subtle wobble too. I think with a little more development this could be a real interesting track. Like, REAL good, man.

The Feeling - I feel a great Thom Yorke influence here. Amazing vibes. The sub’s got that heartbeat rhythm that just hypnotizes me, and the ending had good phrasing to keep it interesting. Warm. Beautiful. Almost voted for this one cause of the memories :)

Titans - Great rhythm. Love the atmosphere behind the drums, nice contrast. Quality here, but lacks on the quantity if ya knawameen

Unreal - See: Cloverfield monster  great to see the more aggressive side take different directions.

Let It Go - At first, I was a bit turned off by this track. I think there’s too much clutter, too much atmosphere, I feel like there’s 3 different ambient tracks playing at the same time. Maybe it’s the bass? That said though, those sounds are truly wicked. I really wish I had a spliff for this one. Grew on me.

Test Of Time - Real trippy shit here. I feel like I'm on a space station about to self-destruct. Didn’t really see the point of the song sample at :40, though. Didn’t like the fact the break was played as it was, unchopped, the beats you put together were good. Kinda disappointing, but there’s a few real cool things in here. Especially that vocal thing.

Crawling Back - Percussion really throws off the time signature, methinks. Had to count it out to find it was just 4/4. Thought you were going for some wicked 7/8 or something. Could be done much better IMO. The bassline definitely gets away with it better, great stuff on that bass. You coming from a jazz background, maybe? I just felt like you were gettin your jazz drummer on or something. Good ornament placement.

Swing Zone - Really diggin this. Rhythms on fuckin point. That thing around 1:24 was siiick, would’ve loved to hear some raunchy play with it but it never happened :( Just about everything sounds great, cool synths and shit, but I felt like it was waiting for itself to explode and It never released all that potential raw energy.

Somehow fitting... sounds like we may be hearing a lot more from our man Apastrat - he also won the first VST comp, which happens to be ready to go for the next round. Apastrat selected the plug and drum machine kit for round 2, and they're both excellent.

Cheers to all the contestants in DSF26: it was a tough motherfucker and I'm humbled by how many of you bitchslapped them samples into submission. I sure as hell couldn't (Constrobuz, you're a sadistic S.O.B. )

No way, I was SO sure that Titans was made by Deadly Habit XD looks like I'm gonna be eating my hat then... :p

Well done Apastrat! Looking forward to the next VST comp now, I just can't seem to get enough of having my ass handed to me in these comps lol.

As there is a loss in interest in this competition (30 votes,) we should get some new blood into it. I would like to suggest taking it to soundcloud and letting other people join in. There is a hip hop competition ive been in recently started doing which is almost the same as this one. Almost the same rules except you vote for 5 peeps. And you amass points.

http://soundcloud.com/forums/remix-comp ... at-contest

I guess at the end of 10 rounds someone wins.

I really like this because you get new people to listen your stuff.

it is just a suggestion and i hope yall consider it.

Thanks for your time... :t:

Howdy Pets Bud:

Believe it or not the ballpark of about 30 votes has been the norm for many of these contests; which is not to say that they couldn't benefit from more people voting and all that, but rather that for whatever reason it's nothing new and thankfully it doesn't discourage folks from participating anyway.

As for your open-to-all/multi-round suggestion... both have been suggested before at least once, I believe. In fact, the whole organization/structure thing has been debated previously like you wouldn't believe. At one point I was advocating a "playoff" structure - but... you can see that never happened.

At the risk of paraphrasing people who can speak for themselves I think the consensus finally wound up being to just kind of leave it as is so future shitstorms don't upset the apple cart, so to speak.
