The amount of techno I've danced to in my lifetime is immense. The amount of time I've spent DJing techno is also immense - I used to do a late night radio show, five hour stretches, sometimes with mates, sometimes by myself. That's how long you need to play to do techno properly. I put on Dan Bell in Australia once. These days I still have a listen to UR, John Tejada and so on, for old times sake, but in terms of new techno coming out, I'm into Actress and the really experimental stuff that comes out on Raster Noton.
The first mix is one I did recently, scroll down to 'Early Techno Mix' for some pretty hard, minimal stuff - Jay Denham, Mills, Sterac, Sutekh, Claude Young, Green Velvet etc. Further down is 'Old Techno Mix' - starts and ends a bit melodic, but with some serious pace in the middle. Then there's a bunch of live recordings and radio recordings. Hope you like it.
Hey does anyone reckon that the best techno goodness is a mixture of the German minimal stuff and the midwest Detroity etc stuff, with a splash of electro?
I downloaded this album the other day - I've got it on vinyl... somewhere... haven't listened to it for probably ten years - and it's awesome! I'm thinking a few of the tunes could fit into a mix of the stuff like Girl Unit etc are mixing up these days, like this one. Worth a try...

I like my techno fast.
And more than a little bit abrasive.
But spacey.

Agree on everything, Tejada is sick thanks for pointing him out. Pretty old music but I never knew the name.

He's done so much music, I've probably got about 20 of his records, and it's probably not even the half of it. After a while I stopped buying his new stuff, got a bit tired of it. But really it's all pretty good, and some of it is amazing. Plug Research is an amazing label, too - it's really changed over the years, but way back in the late 90s when Plug Research and Development came out, with some seriously experimental music (not many techno labels / artists were doing that) and The Art of Travel, which was also pushing boundaries in various directions, it really blew my mind. According to discogs The Art of Travel was mostly Allen Avanessian, I always thought it was both him and Tejada. No youtube videos of this album! I should make some. This is the only audio I could find. Well worth a listen. Not particularly hard, compared to...
one of my favourite Tejada EPs, or
which bangs.
Also, I love the Deep Chord stuff. Beautiful - good snow music!

So you actually attend all these nights? That's groovey.
Big tune. Have a good listen, it's amazing not just for the synths and the drum pattern, but the way it builds and peaks is really great. I remember thinking how cool it was that as each peak came, the drums got quieter - not so you'd notice, but enough that when they kicked back in it really hit hard.

Check "Sweat On The Walls". Fucking dirty lushness of a tune.
