What are your thoughts on those of us who use CDJs to play our own/friends productions, and really man, have you considered, that CDJs cost money too? Hell good ones cost more then decks, so dont act like this is about whether or not we pay for stuff.Be-1ne wrote:dam to much text on the quote then LOL.abZ wrote:Yeah. Just checking, I couldn't make out the point you were trying to make tbh. The MK6 was just a limited run type deal anyway.
the point I'm making is.. A lot of DJ's are steadily moving towards playing CD's. Not because its a cheaper option, but purely because clubs / bars don't get their decks serviced. If it was a case of, they don't make them (decks) anymore or the spare parts aren't available, then this would be a valid reason for venues / promoters having shitty equipment at nights. But with the amount f money a venue takes even in this economic climate, there really is no excuse for having fucked equipment as it costs a fraction of the money they make to ensure the equipment they have available is in working order.
When you look at the cost of CD-J's in comparison its bloody stupid to have them over turntables.
I guess if you wanted to get topical about the whole thing... im kinda thinking out loud here...
if venues and promoters supported the use of and maintained their turntables it would firstly, reduce the amount of idiots DJing with shit quality digital files, youtube rips etc. The knock on effect would be that only people who are prepared to buy music would DJ, meaning that on a basic level we would probably still have more record stores, which means that the industry many of us are apart of, on a bigger or smaller scale, would be more vibrant. the nights we go to would / should be of a better quality musically and socially as scensters would stick to going the local ritzy and not (i hate to sound ever so snobby) specialist music nights. meaning the world would be a happier place LOL.
Ok i lost the thread of what i was waffling, there maybe an oune of sense in there or it maybe i drank to much coffee and haven't eaten. but it is true that maybe, just maybe.... the way music consumption and use has changed has had a bigger impact on our lives that we realise.
oh and also, the lack of decks also fucks with serato users..... who i dont have issue with as at least they invested in the tools of their trade. CD-R's... pft. 10 a penny.
what a ramble LOL but i'll post it for the fuck of it.
Nah I like the ideas you put forward. There would Definitely more quality control also!!!Be-1ne wrote:dam to much text on the quote then LOL.abZ wrote:Yeah. Just checking, I couldn't make out the point you were trying to make tbh. The MK6 was just a limited run type deal anyway.

This would make alot of sense.brokedjs wrote:Not to cause excitement but a little Panasonic birdy tells me that while Analogue products are ceasing production, it is quite possible an analogue/digital hybrid could be in development.
I will post more as I find out, but it certainly sounds interesting.
That does sound interesting, but why make a hybrid if you already had two rather good analogue and digital products anyway? Especially considering that the digital product is still being marketed...brokedjs wrote:Not to cause excitement but a little Panasonic birdy tells me that while Analogue products are ceasing production, it is quite possible an analogue/digital hybrid could be in development.

Ah, okay, that makes sense!brokedjs wrote:Yea I know what you mean,
The production of the analgoue stopped due to parts becomnig unavailable and the only chance to use other parts would end up making the product not finicially viable. *(excuse my grammer)
I will bug the guys here until they give me a straight answer! Think they are already starting to hate me!
Normally in this situation I would imagine they would go up quite drastically, however due to the nature of the format and its popularity not quite reaching that of other formats im not too sure. I would expect a definite increase but maybe not as much as expected.kwun-tings wrote:what u reckon will happen to the price of the technics people have now?

I saw a pair of 1200's for £450 the other day, bit of a steal!
Buying them internally here works out costing the exact same as retail unfortunatly!

Agreed. Dunno where she found the audacity to pull that. Love my girlfriend to bits, but if wedding bells were to sound in future and she "demanded" I surrender my shit (asap, no less!) I'd tell her where to go in a fuckin' heartbeat.brokedjs wrote:fuck marrying her
