I don't want to sound like a prick, guys, but it's actually Zdzisław Beksiński, probably one of the most known Polish artists (someone posted few of his works before as well). As a bit of a trivia, his son was working for the polish national radio and his specialty was all kinds of dark music from goth to new wave. He killed himself, and a few years later his dad, the painter was stabbed to death...

Now on topic, I like different kinds of stuff. I have a soft spot for Russian suprematism though, Maleviches infamous black square being one of my top favourites... Once I had a pleasure attending the exhibition holding all three below, in one room. I didn't go out that room for an hour (and now you know where does my avatar come from )

Here I'm back to introduce another Polish artist, that some of you might like. His name was Witkacy, and he was a proper renaissance persona of the early 20th century - playwright, novelist, philosopher, photographer and painter (and damn good in all of these fields)

The most famous was his portrait studio, where he offered a range of options for the customers - from representational paintings, to the messed up images created with an assistance of various drugs (from coffee, through morphine to peyote) He would put a note on the painting with the name or chemical structure of the used substance.
