Ok you might all completely disagree with this and I don't entirely myself but I'm going to put this thought out anyway for people to think about.

I kinda feel that there isn't really much we can do to improve this place. People want more helpful, informative posts and less of the same posts we see everyday.
I sorta think that while we have the production bible (which is great btw) this place is going to become less of a community and more of a big knowledge base.
It's kind of becoming that the more we get useful posts that are stickied or added to the production bible, the less topics that people are able to create without just being linked somewhere or alpaca'd.

Obviously I'm not suggesting getting rid of the production bible and I'm not really helping with any solutions to anything but I kinda think people should just accept that the things everyone complains about here are always going to exist and can't really get that much better.

First off, happy mothers day to all u bad mothas out there.

To the point tho, I think the one thing i am tired of on this forum which i feel brings it into the ground is all the hate.
Tons of shit talking no matter what anyone says, unwarranted superiority complexes regarding skill level and choice of style, and just generally being a dick.

This extends to the help me make this sound threads. While there are a lotta the same posts goin on, the bass sound on the "Skrillex" or whoever track that ppl wanna know about could be different with every post.

Ever notice on DOA the grid, when ppl post up a help me make this sound thread, the responses are pretty much all helpful and folks go out of their way to participate, zero in on the sound and upload their own patches to help the community as a whole better figure out how sound design is done.

"Use the search function" "try and sound like yourself" "Theres already one Rusko, why do u want his bass patch?"

all this shit is unnecessary. It gets to the point where people are just curious how things are done and want to push the boundaries of the genre and maybe walk down the road someone else went down a bit farther. But now u have to skim through 8 pages of flaming just to get two posts of relevance.

I mean, its a "Production" Forum

Were here to learn more about Production from each other.

another thing that sucks is all the separation of genre shit. The derogatory "B" word being used to describe anything heavier and more rowdy. Honestly, Who Gives A Fuck?

Do you see people in a diner shit talkin the guy whos eating a tuna sandwich because they themselves prefer a bacon cheeseburger? I mean get real.

I also think that the people here need to lighten up because they get trolled too easy.

we don't need less shit threads, we need more quality posts.
new rules or stricter enforcement aren't gonna help if there's no good shit to be protective of. problem is, after a year of lurking/posting most topics simply aren't interesting anymore, and then for example there's the juke thread which i'd find really interesting but it ends up being a mass dump of youtube-vids without any actual production discussion happening

so... quality posts in quality threads -> no need to give a f*ck about shit threads.

tbh i think dsfp is fairly bro-friendly. Especially when the tough aggro beats are well made. If lots more brosteppers would step up their drums and percussion riddims, I'd rinse that shit.

when i go out to eat i don't bash the next guy for ordering steak instead of fish. but if they douse a porterhouse in ketchup, i will talk shit.

to be clear, in that analogy the steak is a mental bassline, and ketchup is boring ass drums.

it's a shame when they have this insanely developed and moving basslines
then what sound like a simple 1/3 pattern with stock drum machine samples with no layering or time pumped into em besides maybe eqing to fit the mix

no offence legendary but ever since youve became a mod things have gotten alot gayer.

constantly deleting questionable threads (things that could be left up, arent repeated questions, but you just find some reason that it shouldn't be here..)

there have been numerous times i can think of when i opened up a thread that was prepared to answer or try to help the person and then see LOCKED READ STICKIES NOOB LOLOLOLOL.

before you were a mod very rarely would i see locked threads.. but during that first period you became mod you just went ape shit with the ban hammer... power hungry? starved for affection? i dno. either way it was wack and im glad youve cooled off a bit and hopefully will continue to do so.

To all the people that say the forum is fine, and stop hating on the brostep, stop being so negative. You don't even know. This place used to be far more positive, people would help out, people would stick around, people would have interesting, evolving conversations, people would be respectful of other people. Don't trip, it wasn't all unicorns and rainbows, but it was different and it was better. That is not how it is now. That's why I say it is beyond saving, because as far as I'm concerned it's already dead (and as far as a lot of the former quality posters are concerned). This forum has been overrun by little brosteppers too scared to call what they do their own thing, so they got to try and be a part of dubstep. Alright guys, not sure what to make of this... I kinda like the idea of a sub forum where no dumb questions get asked, and it's all people who wish to learn and people who are experienced.

The only problem with that would be that the production forum gets clogged with crap since it's not being moderated by the mods who are in the sub forum.
It would lead to and even worse production forum.
