Exactly. This isnt about police brutality or for the memory of some guy. This is about saying fuck the system and causing some shit. The officers they will be coming up against are just doing their jobs, and have nothing to do with the original incident. The police are going to be more scared of them. I have friends who are police officers and they are going to get caught up in this shit, and who knows what might happen to them........all for the sake of some new nike dunks and some topman clothes!! This shit is plain stupid. I reckon 75% of the people that go to Oxford Street wont even know the name of the guy they looting in the name of!!!particle-jim wrote:just saw this on the guardian website
the guardian wrote:My colleague Paul Lewis has got hold of one of the BBM messages that was circulating on Blackberry phones last night.
He writes:
It is hard to verify, but multiple sources have sent me this identical message - still, we need to be cautious. If authentic, it explains one of the the less reported (and understood) aspects of last night's disturbances: the appearance of a small numbers of looters in the early hours of the morning in Oxford Circus. I don't know where they came from, but central London is a long way to travel from most residential areas in the capital with no public transport. That puts to rest any doubt that the disturbances are highly organised:
Everyone from all sides of London meet up at the heart of London (central) OXFORD CIRCUS!!, Bare SHOPS are gonna get smashed up so come get some (free stuff!!!) fuck the feds we will send them back with OUR riot! >:O
Dead the ends and colour war for now so

if you see a fed... SHOOT!
We need more MAN then feds so Everyone run wild, all of london and others are invited! Pure terror and havoc & Free stuff....just smash shop windows and cart out da stuff u want! Oxford Circus!!!!! 9pm, we don't need pussyhole feds to run the streets and put our brothers in jail so tool up,
its a free world so have fun running wild shopping;)

Yeah but other than Oxford St, all of the other riots are in the poorer areas, 75% might not know the name of the guy but I reckon 90% of the rioters are poor and from poor backgrounds, if you create a society with huge divides (especially in London) where its hard to move up in life and have capitalism pushed down your throats then this is the sort of thing that happens.LA_Boxers wrote:This shit is plain stupid. If I was an aspiring photographer/journalist I'd be between ladbrook grove and kensal rise on that Sunday from 9pm.wub wrote:Notting Hill Carnival is going to be fun this year.

seeing as these sort of riots are indicative of a public mood that is no longer content with this Orwellian and economically divided state, I don't think this matters at all actually. It's just the first stepping stone as far as I am concerned.volcanogeorge wrote:This was my first thought, seems altogether counter-productive.sonar wrote:probably just give the govt an excuse to pass some more big brother laws.
