If the thing gets a lot of attention, and starts handing out "dubstep awards" to hardcore bro artists, it could be a defining moment where the scene surrenders the word "dubstep" to the newer sound, and future generations don't have a clue what dubstep is. Kind of like how people today call Chris Brown and Trey Songz "R&B". they aren't exactly Sam Cooke or the Temptations.
If been thinking about a similar sentence for ages haha even with the R&B reference

(to your whole post and Plasticians')

DMA people,
1. Why won't you reveal the names of your 5-strong group of super-promoters? I find it all a bit strange. If your crew is so good, you'd be shouting about it, saying YO OUR MAIN MAN DAVE THE SUPERPROMOTER HAS RECRUITED MALA TO DO THE LINEUP FOR ROOM 1 AT THIS, HE'S BOOKED V.I.V.E.K AND GOTH TRAD AND SHIT, ITS GONNA BE HUUUUGE YO! but you haven't, which leaves me to believe you've recruited 5 standard Birmingham muppets who don't know a thing about dubstep, and you're trying to sling together a half-assed lineup on the cheap to maximise the vast amount of monies you expect to make.
2. Your logo looks like the NOW ("that's what I call music") logo. This just adds fuel to the "DMA is a money-making scam" argument. If you honestly are trying to market your event towards as wide a variety of 'dubsteppers' as possible, and not just the fucking idiots of the scene, then god knows why you chose such a graphic style cos on the night you're just going to end up with a load of mentally spasticated 16 year olds packing fake ID expecting to hear Top 40 bullshit karaoke or something.
But yeah, honestly, awards are pointless. They are divisive.

Hey Guys!
Once more, thank you so much for your feedback and comments.
We'd like to re-illiterate a point we've made over the last few posts... This will
NOT be the 'brostep' awards.
The awards are being set up to award
EVERYONE in the genre, right from pioneers to present day artists and of course those people who create excellent tracks but sadly don't have the fan base of other artists.
We can assure everyone, that the last thing we want, is a biased awards and we wont be leaving the excellent production qualities of lesser known artists behind.
In relation to the 5 promoters involved within the awards, please feel free to contact us on:
info@dubstepmusicawards.co.uk with your questions.
Sadly, whatever our logo, I doubt we could please everyone.
We will be posting more details soon, along with categories.
Thanks again,
The DMA Team

Definitely ticks all the 'urban music' cliche boxes.
CDJs or Turntables - Check
Duotone cityscape - Check
Adobe Illustrator paint splat brushes - Check
Graphic Equaliser detailing - Check
Chunky extruded text in garish, obnoxious colours - Check
Bog standard Adobe Photoshop lens flare - Check
Whispy coloured lines that seem to be all the rage in event photography nowadays - Check
Surprised they didn't make the text look like diamonds.
I know its a cheap shot attacking your logo, but it really isn't doing your credibility any favours, I'm afraid.

Actually laughable when u know the organisers, humble and modest.
dont get caught up in the hater hype. wether everyone agrees or disagrees, the event will still take place and people will win awards (actual shiny ones too)
All we can do is try and make it a success by doin our bit and hope that justice will be done, for the sake of Dubstep.

The main question is:
Why is any of this necessary at all?
Who gives a shit about awards? What do they prove?
The only way I'd take this seriously is if it was held for free, off the back of a flatbed, at Notting Hill Carnival, with the dirt soundsystem, ever winner got a 6 pack of red stripe and there was a freeparty in a dark warehouse afterwards to celebrate.
