Just completed the game, and to be honest, I can't see why everyone is in such uproar.

Isn't there the option of a romance thing with Miranda? I dunno though, the whole romance aspect of the game was the weakest part for me, *that* was what felt forced. Trolling my squad mates for sex in the middle of a war is not the one.
The ending was strange, granted, but I don't get the whole craziness about it, I mean shit, people are saying it's ruined aprox 100 hours of previous gameplay because it didn't end how they wanted it to. I get people's complaints about their previous actions not effecting the ending. But it's not like your previous actions are completely irrelevant, decisions you make in the first game still massively effect things that happen in the third in many subtle but significant ways. That's decisions you made about 5 years ago, pretty impressive in my book.
After all's said and done though, this was Bioware's game to make, their story to tell, if people don't like the ending, fair enough, but to come back sue the devlopers and start petitions trying to get Bioware to change the ending is ridiculous, and it's a dangerous precedent. I rarely play games these days, but if something like this was heeded by Bioware, where would it stop? Would people petition to get the ending of films changed? Books? Last thing I want are a bunch of internet geeks rewriting the films I watch.

no if you havn't loaded the previous save file from mass effect 1 and 2 no romance options are available with former team mates.. your only option is some reporter i told to get fucked and get gay with one of your engineers... the romance isn't huge to the game but it helps with continuity of the story. The fact the jack doesn't even APPEAR in the game if you have not had the previous save file is really ridiculous. Of course petitioning bioware to change the ending is very naive. But i think that people are so up in arms is because Bioware have crafted an engaging story and a universe for the fans to explore. Once something is created and experienced i feel that all the fans share a part of the process and feeling of ownership is created. but besides the point yeah petitioning is naive and bioware fucked up. But im not attacking bioware at all fronts i mean play star wars the old republic and that shit is addictive lol

I thought the ending was slightly disapointing, but i'll just take what i thinks right from it. I understand that the reapers are ending the cycles for the catalyst, but who is the catalyst?? The first race of being elevated toa different plane of existence??

I remember that Mass Effect 2 had this little something at the beginning of the game that let you answer some questions and make a few choices about the Mass Effect 1 story in case you hadn't played that yet, doesn't ME3 have this also?
I don't know because I just continued my story from 1 and 2, but it sounds like that would've taken care of the problems that you're having now because you're missing previous save files...
I feel your pain though, it's an amazing game, but I can imagine that you would really miss out on a lot without those save files.

You're thinking of the interactive comic, which was very handy albeit DLC (except for the PS3 version). And no, there's no ME3 equivalent unfortunately.

yeah you get to pick your backstory if you havent played the other ones, your story is going to be different in some ways though than the people that have, endings will be the same i think but youll lose certain people here and there that the people with saves never even met.

Ok so wtf is this? I haven't completed it yet either so I don't know how disappointing the ending really is, but I'm not sure if I'm happy with this.
And how will this work? I think I'm almost done with the main story after around 30 hours, but should I now hold off on completing it and wait for them to include this alternative ending? Seems a bit pointless to complete the game now that I know that the ending is going to change... And do we get this ending for free or will they charge us another tenner for this content?

yeh, i'm in two minds about it really, it's good because i've heard nothing but bad things about the ending but i also fully agree with your points.
i've been occupied with forza 4 so i guess i can wait a while, still playing it in short bursts though, i'm about 17 hours in so bioware need to hurry their shit.

Just completed it like 1 min ago and if I'm completely honest, I have to say that I don't really understand why everyone was so disappointed with the ending... I actually think that it was pretty good tbh...
I do have to point out though, without spoiling anything, that at the very end there are 3 different things you can do, all with a different ending, and you have to chose 1. So the type of ending that you get depends on which of those 3 you chose, and because I've only seen 1 of them so far I can only guess that some people might be disappointed by one of the other 2 endings? I don't know. I can only say that I wasn't disappointed by the ending that I got.
So yeah, I'd say that all of you that haven't completed it yet shouldn't really worry about the ending just yet, because I think it's all been a bit exaggerated.
PS. Don't skip the credits.

Just make a separate save file, and you can play out the new ending from there.

Apparently one of the problems people have is that the endings are virtually identical no matter which ending you choose. Wouldn't know myself for sure though.
I'm totally with you though, everything was blown out of proportion regarding the ending I feel...
...either that or my expectations were lowered so much by the negative reaction that it was impossible to be disappointed.

Ah I see... Well I wouldn't know either cos I've only seen 1 of the 3 endings of course but I could see that being a possibility I guess.
I personally don't think that that's enough reason for Bioware to make another ending though.
