it would be cool if we actually came together as a subcommunity and put a tracklist together for a potential release and it actually happened
but if you lot are anything like me, which you are, then we are too lazy to do it.

The only difficult thing would be sorting out the money bits (assuming you meant a release that would be sold, not given away)
Either way, im definitely gonna make my next mix the 'Official Chillstep Allstars Collection Vol.1'

Based on the Ramadanman cd I don't think a breakstep mix would have raised that many eyebrows among those buying the mixes. Probably was never going to happen though as I've got the impression a lot of the big names of that time weren't too fond of the breakstep side of things.

Wasn't breakstep considered the tearout of 2005?

there was a really old thread further back in DSF's general, but im too lazy to dig for it, besides this one had some good examples.
breakstep was almost an excuse to have another go at tearout DnB.... but do it right.

Was breakstep ever really a 'thing'? The early stuff was basically 2-step where the drums were breakbeats. Sounding a lot like slowed down like dnb with a bubbly bassline. Then the whole dubstep and grime thing started to happen and then it sounded more like a breakbased take on dubstep.
138 Trek sounds like it had more in common with Zed Bias and The Knowledge sounds like it has more affinity with let's say, Kito or something.
Seemed more like an umbrella term for an approach to garage derived music with a breakbeat. If a halfstep breakstep banger came out these days, I'm sure most people would call it dubstep.

breakstep was a thing just like chillstep is a thing nowadays (except not fucking wank)
not it's own genre, but a particular flavor of dubstep.
