General scenario is where you are in a position where you are close to death due to starvation and no there are no other food sources available.

if i'm honest, i'd be the one everyone would be queuing up to chow down on.

And nonetheless, whether or not you would agree it evidently "came down to it" when people's faces started being munched off.

i hardly think it's relevant to the situation at hand. we're talking about eating an already dead person in a situation where you wouldn't otherwise survive. this guy attacked a perfectly healthy guy and started eating him because he's mentally ill

how did i react? i thought the guy was a fucking nutter and i felt awful for the victim
