Massive sound "thin" to anyone else?

I love how LFOs can be mapped to absolutely anything, but the sounds themselves can sometimes be almost meek IMO. I've gotten growlier bass sounds out of Operator. Even the presets on it don't seem that great. Do I just need to process the crap out of it? Or am I missing something?

If you have a high end sound you're trying to use, layer it with something deeper, like a sub bass or something to that extent.

Only sounds thin if you make a thin sound imo

massive's saws sound plastic to me. Either way i still use it due to easy automation and it's many filter options. just gotta do some external processing.

pwm pulse all the way rather than saws :U:

I don't really like how massive sounds, but the three knob bandreject filter is just nasty, wish NI made a multifilter unit.

Komplete 8 currently on sale (for the same price as Reaktor.. dope deal). This may mean Komplete 9 is around the corner, which would hopefully mean Reaktor 6!!!!!

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... c&start=75

"Massive 2 was already confirmed"

"That is pretty good news! Where did you see that?"

"A ni employee mentioned a free massive 2 update for maschine users, so if you got maschine you got massive 2 for free when it comes out"

Can anyone confirm/deny this?

What he said!!
Also using the feedback and eq in massive can make things sound bigger but if your making thin sounds then thats probably your problem.

I wouldn't call it thin, I would call it plasticy sounding though.

I find myself doing a lot of work to all my sounds in massive. Biggest reason I use it these days is the familiarity. Lately though I have been using more stuff like U-He ACE. The difference in quality is pretty noticeable to say the least.

Amen
I totally don't use Massive much in spite of it being something I teach on http://www.massivesynth.com/Filters/ http://www.massivesynth.com/Modulation/
500+ pirates on normal torrent audio site.
I love Massive, but soooo over rated and sounds so plasticy.

Haven't used massive in a very long time. I came to a realization that all the impressive sound design that massive has to offer has already been used or taken. As well as every producer using it for 90% of their tunes, it has become a massive over saturation.

Probably the best thing that I've ever done as a producer was to give up massive. Started learning other synthesis that has benefited me greatly.
