I didn't have a specific example in mind, I'll admit there are people who react worse to it than others and that doesn't really help their cause
DiegoSapiens wrote:but why do we want new members that post ddm tunes?

Because the site is dying and the genre is evolving. I'm sure we'd all love a steady stream of new member into 'cool' labels like Tectonic/Chestplate/Deep Medi/etc, but it's just not going to happen. Social media has taken the baton from forums, and where once you'd have to join a forum like DSF to find out more about what you were into, now you can just join groups of like minded people within Facebook/Soundcloud and have your interests met within a single platform.
We have a small influx of folk in the middle that aren't the established old guard, but once you stray outside the acceptable parameters either side people either get railed on for liking the EDM leaning sounds or else we have the opposite side of things where people are too purist and get railed on for being snobby about 'tru hed step'.
I am as guilty as anyone for the latter as my frequent Compa baiting threads will show, however, I have identified this as an issue and will be working to resolve my actions, if not my opinions, on the matter.
General board wouldn't be so much waste if people just didn't comment in the threads regarding tunes/artists they found to be a personal affront on their own sensibilities.

Site is fine >>> Somebody says "Site is dying" >>> Gets everybody on a downer about SNH/DSF in general >>> Site dies.

Would also help if new members weren't jumped on and bullied off the site because they made the mistake of posting an 'EDM' tune in the General board.
This is exactly my thinking.
Diego - You need not interact with them at all surely. The thread title's are usually pretty obvious, or at least the first line of the OP. But instead of thinking 'nope, this aint for me', mother fuckers always gotta have some snide comment or some meta put down to get the approval of the other truheds. It's fucking petty and annoying.

I think the opposite recently. The hideout in particular has been awesome for chats, lots of good new music getting posted and people not immediately jumping on it. Even Nic was getting involved yesterday
Production still isn't as healthy as it once was in the 09/10 heyday, but that's to be expected. The Sound Design subboard has steered a lot of the aforementioned offensive traffic into a single place, Tuna has taken on it's own mini community vibe which is awesome, people having more theoretical discussion about techniques rather than solely paint by numbers patch recreation.
Dubs people are leaving more feedback, General is still a bit of a wasteland, Releases is just a mess, Mixes hardly anything gets responses these days outside of the established rolling threads...
...if people chipped in and gave positive reinforcement to threads the interested them in the other boards more often, I reckon we can lift overall site moral (for want of a better word)

oh you mean the general not hideout. But what do you expect? Few 140 been produced now. The general threads that i check seems to be very healthy and lot of music is posted (130, Kahn, Egiptian Avenue, LAS, gantz etc) but don´t expect tons of people getting into a place called dubstepforum in 2014 after all the bullshit the last years and the actual situation of dub step.
i´m with gareth, the site is fine

Wasn't saying that the site was dying, just drawing obvious parallels to dubstep as a genre man.
Dubstep was basically fine >>> Big names said it was dying >>> Move to other genres >>> Dubstep dies.

i'd rather there be 10 people at a party that shared my interests than 100 who were over excited bros.

i'ma probably get slewed for this...but the existence of the snh deads out the general discussion (i don't know how true or not this was in the past), literally nothing jokes ever happens in general and anything interesting like talking about the last system/ zomby hudmo fights gets posted in snh leaving nothing to talk about in general except to say 'big up' about a new thelem ep

yeah i think it'd be pretty harsh on a lot of people that posted in it for years and it could end up as some shithole full of trolls but yeah for me the reason general is so dead is that there is str8 up no bantz there

Yeah innit.
+ anyone not familiar with the bait forum in-jokes, personalities + general circle jerkfest that takes over these threads as well (130), god help them trying to find out any info or new music. (which is the main reason i come on here)
There's still a few decent threads tho: Dub & Roots, System threads, Dangerous D&B thread, (honorable mention to the Arsenal
i mean football thread)

People should be more supportive of the new guys, even if they like EDM. If they stick around then they might find some new music that may change their taste. Telling them to piss off just guarantees that they continue listening to EDM and never learn of our sound. I also agree with Pete that the forum is too segregated. I think that the house sub-forum should be merged with the snh or converted to an all genres of music other that dubstep sub-forum. The only problems I see are the reduction of traffic to the snh and possible confusion arising from so many different genres. It just seems a bit odd that we have a sub-forum dedicated to house, but no other genres. The only thing that would suck about getting rid of the house dedicated forum would be the possible alienation of people who only visit the forum to post in the house section.
