As to the mixing thing, i heard Skream doesn't mixdown his tunes, and i think Reso mentioned that he helped Burial mix the wayfaring stranger remix because he was having trouble with the vocal, so i am assuming burial does his own.

no - a mixdown is the producer 'mixing' the best version of their tune possible in their own environment i.e. home studio, mixing/balancing/EQing/compressing each separate channel in a tune.

Transition is a mastering house first & foremost, so they use high-end mastering equipement to master the tune i.e. just the finished track.


in short, the producer does their best mixdown, then takes it to a place such as Transition to be mastered (and usually cut).
