Amen. hyperdub makes the best point i've seen so far....ok i'm only on page 6 of the threads but .....
i would rather see a 7 page thread on some new dubstep producer on the dusbstep forum. Don't need everybody on this....

lololololol true word though... plus, if it's for mixing into house, why post it here? If you'd hung around here, you'd know you can get a *new one ripped* for doing dubstep that some people don't consider being dubstep...use it in your sets, but spreading it on here without talking to hyperdub first....
as the old nigerian proverb says- 'Make sure you're not wearing a grass skirt before you go and help put out the burning house next door"
i really don't understand what sort of reaction the poster was expecting...
oh sh*te , I've just contributed to making this an 8 page thread

don't know as I don't dj myself, just thought if the drums were not in time it might be quite a problem to beatmatch. I hope it's ok to be just a fan of the music who doesn't know everything about DJing

i have tried to mix in archangel and it tends to like a lot of burial tunes go in & out of time...unique
unite actually is totally rock solid but i think he used different techniques to make this
archangel is so amazing and id so love to be able to mix it for longer

lololol.
But I bet Burial/Hyperdub don't post their tunes using those samples on the garageforum or wherever the person whose samples they are using frequents.
and that's a mouthful. Put it this way, do you really think I'm gonna be posting my (cough) remix(cough) of Bob Marley's "No woman no cry" on the Bob Marley Appreciation forum or the "Reggaeforum" asking what people think?
Nah. Anyway, this is page 8 and that's definitely too many.

To be fair though, that's not what happened. This thread wasn't started by Boy 8-Bit (unless I'm missing something). Looks like he only signed up to respond to any criticisms/questions being levelled towards the tune?
After a few listens, I quite like it. Heard much worse.

Yeah, I didnt post this remix here, I just replied to a thread that was started. I am interested in Dub Step and have been reading this forum for a while now, I have only just decided to sign up when my tune was being talked about...
To bring up a few points that have been raised:
His tune is totally in time and mixable. I didnt do any editing to it at all, except cutting out the sections I wanted to use.
Fair enough a lot of people didnt like it, but I thought I wasnt straying that far from the original to be honest. I wanted to make a simple "roller", but in my style. I've read the interviews, I remember the tunes he talks about.. Was a big fan of them. But this is what I do now and it fits in nicely. Rip me to pieces if you like, but I still play some of that old stuff and I wanted to do this... I could have been a lot more disrespectful to the original...
I spoke to Hyper Dub as soon as they posted here. They are cool with the remix - they like it.... And they are cool with me, which means a lot.. They were totally open minded. To be honest thats all I needed to hear.
The whole blogging thing was an oversight on my part. I sent a bunch of tunes to mad decent and this is the one they decided to post. Blogging is (sigh) a "way of life" in my scene now, I didnt realise in other scenes it was looked on quite harshly... So in hindsight, my bad.
As for the guy dissing Mad Decent for taking genres and selling them to the "Trendy" types......Mad decent are a group of guys who are genuinely passionate about music. Whats wrong with them bringing genres to the massses? Why do we have to be so cynical? Diplo has made a documentary about Favela funk and made a couple of mixes which are now freely downloadable.. I wouldnt have heard that stuff if it wasnt for him.. Also, he set up the Heaps Decent charity organisation to bring music to less privaledged people.... Why do we need to hate on that?...
As for the people who decided to diss my dj'ing style - Sand Leaper or something.... If you can be that eclectic and keep a crowd, I'll eat my hat. That is the music I love and would really like to be able to play it out...But I don't... I was being sarcastic (Lowest form of wit)... But I prefer to play within my genre. When i go to a D&B night I want to hear D&B, When I go to a Dub Step night I want to Hear Dub Step, if I go to a hip hop night I want to hear hip hop. So when people go to me and they want to hear "House" i play house... Dont try and tell me to broaden my palette as I am just trying to play to my audience. If I want to listen to death metal and folk I will do so on my ipod, thanks...
Cheers,
Dave

Ignore the haters man, if hyperdub are cool there's no problem. I thought it was pretty good, and I totally understand your reasons for it. If other people got a problem that's there issue not yours
Might even get an official remix out of it
