Dubstep is turning all DNBy nowadays. There isn't QUITE this split at the moment but seeing that there's a remix of a TC tune coming out soon has brought visions of dubstep becoming more and more like DNB...
I love a lot of the music coming out of dubstep at the moment, there are some great up and coming producers out there but listening to Youngsta on Rinse in late 2005 it just seems to me that there was a real purity and excitement about it in those days, and real quality control.
I'm beginning to get a bit sick of it all, particularly with constantly moaning and worrying about it.
Anyway I'm going to try not to end up going to nothing but dubstep nights this year... wish me luck
Although there is a lot of rubbish coming out, just be thankful that the originators are (mainly) still making amazing tunes. Even the original innovators of DnB seemed to end up making crap. When Mala is making tunes as dire as Dillinja's 2000ish output I'll accept the dubstep is dead argument.
PS If that ever happens I will actually cry.
PPS Nothing will ever be like Youngsta in late 2005, you're just going to have to accept that. Just be glad you were alive, and boast about to your grandchildren / the random kids locked in your cellar.

I have a quick browse on the main forum and then into here.
I am starting to...well..not get bored..but there is so much stuff being pumped out from too many people I am beginning to lose track.
I try and keep my exposure to the music limited to events.

me too. Makes it harder to get your stuff out there for sure. Theres good stuff though. so keep digging, i say. I think the most refreshing tune i heard in a while was zomby's new track, "Gloop". that thing is fucking amazing. really looking forward to that one. Also, feeling a lot of grime, but i've been looking into the really minimal gritty stuff lately. I love it when a tune sounds broken!
I also agree that theres a lot of uninspiring shit out there too. Thats one thing thats kind of nice in the states. Southern California isnt London, so people aren't quite as exposed to dubstep on a regular basis as they are in the UK. I've definitely been looking outside dubstep for influences though...
i could make massive bass drops for days, and i do, but it's more fun to try and sculpt a track with meaning that keeps me interested. I seem to be making a lot of music just for me these days, and a small portion of it is what i'd refer to as "dubstep".
Like someone else said here, as long as kode 9 and mala are still making dope stuff, im interested.

That's why dubstep really needs good deejays, radio-hosts, etcetera and should credit them more. Both the GONNA WOBBLE YOU WITH MY COCK!-tracks and that what is now apparently called the deeper end of dubstep ultimately get their legitimation when played out. It will be really going bad when mixes/sets/... are
exclusively crafted out of one branch. But that's not really happening (yet), afaik.
I'm with you on 2005 though.

I think there's still quite a lot of good stuff coming out.. of course there's plenty generic/formulaic releases, however i think there's still enough brilliant records ..
as for some records sounding like 80's techno etc. I don't really mind.. it's the same with every musical genre innit.. hip-hop came out of funk and soul breaks house and techno grew out of disco and early electronic stuff..
it all repeats itself.. as long as it sounds great that's fine with me..

Not the usual Dubstep but how about High Rankin, Ale Fillman, Don Goliath, Er.Ic, Intex Systems, Innasekt, the Shift Recs crew, the Rottun crew, Zen Militia, White Boi, Protocol X, Various Production, ...?

i still love it as much as when it started but dont buy it much as i find the best stuff/stuff i like is all unsigned or in mixes posted on the net.

loads like ive sed on this forum about a billion times its needs diversity , i buy mad amounts of dubstep and its still moving frwd every order i get in has something new to excite me without fail

yeah true addicted to the baddest.
ive been playing out 3 nights a week for 2 years now like clockwork and im at the radio every other week (actualy pretty much every week lately )
so i aint realy looking for a radio show .
as for mixes ,my home mixer is a leaking crackly peace of shit that needs replacing
and i keep spending all my $ on 12s
but im thinking of recording my sets at double drop n posting em up here

Our time difference means a night slot here would be a cruisy afternoon or morning set for those northern barbarians.
