not like we have a lot to celebrate in the first place anyway...we could celebrate our intolerance of anyone not british if you want, but only after we've eaten chinese takeaway, wearing clothes made on the other side of the world, before driving home in a japanese car

fair point, but i must say that the sterotype of british xenophobia is pathetic really, and why there are the cunty few (BNP i'm looking at you :? ), most britons are tolerant of other cultures and the people coming to our country bringing over these cultures - as the british embrace their music, religions, food, etc. but when the british government cares so much about immigrants that they decide to treat indeginous britains as seemingly second class citizens then thats when the idiots in the government need to pull their collective finger out.

thats just my opinion anyway. what can i say i'm just an 16 year old with a cab driver for a dad who is forced to talk politics around the dinner table :|

nowt wrong with a little politics talk

agree with you i am probably exagurrating the spread of nationalism, but large readership of sensationalist articles in daily mail and co. does easily spread the negative vibes, and to be honest i think this last point you made about brits being treated as second class citizens is not true on the whole (i certainly haven't seen much evidence of it) and is only put forward by ridiculous papers such as those mentioned above, unfortunately its very easy to make many people believe that kind of thing through that medium as most (not saying this is you) don't think about what they are reading and simply blindy swallow the "information" put forward in the article and regurgitate it down the pub

It is impossible to find a moral justification for nationalism which will hold water.

It's an irrational emotion built on cultural myths and fear.

The notion that I have speical duties to someone who shares the same'national identity' as me is laughable.
