Some more questions...

How do you start from a naked patch in the es2?

Also, if I want to sample one cycle of an 808 and use that to make a sub, how do I do that in the exs24? I can't find a sample loop or anything

Maybe I'm just not trying hard enough

on the es2 (and any synth in logic). if you alt click anything it resets it to its default value.

As for the 808 kick sub. to the far right of the sampler editing window there is a loop option. then open up the sample in the editor window (right click on the sample in the edit window) and set the loop points. Then get your tuner out and tune the thing to like middle C. (use the pitch and fine tune the tuning)

reset the es2 to what you want to start from-- like just 1 square wave osc open, no routing, no vector-- and save that patch as #default. boom.

i do the same for the compressor-- its starting point is bullshit.

yeah use an external sample editor like audacity (Free) this the only way as logic has to convert any file type to aiff/wav before you do anything to it. Its annoying having to convert a 320 into a wav just for the sake of editing it.
nice one cheers, just checked your videos- useful stuff
you can just drag it into logic, then chop it, then go to the bin and delete the parts of that audio file you dont need.

Bonus points!
I save the channel EQ with all the bands turned off and saved that as the default. Saves on CPU and some say sounds better when your just using what you need.

Okay, I'm gonna keep using you guys cause I'm a dumbass haha

I got the loop thing figured out (somehow) with writing the loop info to the file and then re-opening and loading the file in. Don't know how that worked.

But I downloaded Elek7ro (or whatever it's called) and it saved as a .vst file, which I'm guessing is good. I don't know how to open it in Logic though. I'm trying to figure it out but I think asking probably won't hurt.

And this has probably been talked about a million times, but thanks for your help.

Doesn't it take a combination of the two?

Whenever I've tried using an .au on its own, it never shows up in Logic. It only seems to work when in conjunction with a .vst for me. :|

Im not sure what your doing there, but i know for a 100% fact that logic uses audio units. You can get 'wrappers' that are a bit flaket to wrap a vst into a .au format, but as i said they are unstable at best.

@disco.infultrator

Download the audio unit version.

Well f me, I can't find an .au version. They're all like .dII(?) or .vst.

I finally figured it out. You have to copy the component file into the library/audio/components(?)directory and then it works.

Man this computer stuff confuses me. Thanks for all the help. I'm making this thread my personal help service haha.

i have a few questions;

1. how do organize your arrange tracks into folders which can close or open. i wanna do this so that for example when im not wprking on drums i can just close that folder and i have 20 less tracks in the window to look at.

crtl z does it in the vid at 2:40 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyrhmTmNvOU (best masterclass i've ever seen btw)

2. also, is there anyway to set up crossfading between two channels, like a dj mixer's crossfade???

3. lastly, is there any way to organize your channels in the mixer without having to create their corresponding arrange tracks and move them around????

thanks to anyone who can shed some light on these questions

I'm not sure how to do this for the channels themselves but if you select all of the data on the track (mid/audio) and press cmnd+f, it will put them in folders...

Interested to know the answers to your other two questions myself!

apple-F. tho it won't pack the channels as well, just the regions.
sigmund floyd wrote:2. also, is there anyway to set up crossfading between two channels, like a dj mixer's crossfade???)
not AFAIK. for something performance-based like that, you're better off using Ableton.
sigmund floyd wrote:3. lastly, is there any way to organize your channels in the mixer without having to create their corresponding arrange tracks and move them around????
you essentially have a few 'banks' that you can choose to see in the mix window-- in 'arrange' you see what all is in the arrange window, plus whatever combination of busses, aux's, inputs, and outputs you want. you also have "all," which will show you everything in the environment-- again, you can choose what you see. IE, in my default screenset, the arrange window is on the left monitor, and the mix window is on the right, showing me the auxes and outputs in "all" mode.

read the manual for more info.

Lol why not just get yourself a couple of good sample packs and make your own ultrabeat packs? Or even sculpt yourself some...
