you saw the old one or the remake? i love funny games mind-blowing film
The old one. I suddenly understand why he quotes Passolini as an influence but man, compared to his later stuff i just was not feeling this at all... Cache did the creep in the house concept so much better imo

Totally agree but funny games was kind of a broad more commercial attempt.
Might be a funding issue because the tone is so different from his other films.
Bennys video was almost too grim for me tbh. wish I hadn't watched it.

Found footage sci-fi thriller. The odds was against it but I thought it was pretty well done, had some pretty great moments. Despite it being pretty low budget it looks great and they definitely use the "found footage" concept to their advantage in that regard imo. Also, it features that dude from District 9 and Elysium.

An Autumn Afternoon on the other hand, is amazing. just watch this from 3:30 onwards and you'll be convinced:

Apparently Funny Games was an experiment as much as anything else to see how the audience would react to all the most unfair and unlucky things happening in a film, explains the rewind moment. Apparently to 'pass' you're supposed to walk out of it it was definitely up there among the most uncomfortable things I've ever seen

Yeah, does mean that by definition no ones going to consider it a percy though if your goal is to alienate your audience. The two other Haneke films I've seen - Cache and The White Ribbon were both more fleshed out, complete films despite being unmistakably his and overall were better for it.
On another note I saw Pearl Harbour today. It was shit

Just did a long haul flight so did a lot of newish film watching:
Captain Phillips: decent, probably the best acting I've seen tom hanks do.
12 years a slave: not enjoyable to watch but very good and worth seeing.
Anchorman 2: some funny parts but not as good as the first one, and a very similar story.
Lego: awesome!
