Terpit - Problem I have with that is that they're producing so fast and regurgitating a sound rather than exploring new horizons within the sub-genre.

I tried to listen to a yunx rinse set the other day, I got about 20 minutes in and had to turn it off, it genuinely all sounds the same to me :/

Anybody from the UK might be suffering a bit of winter blues, due to the clocks going back and it being dark pretty much all the time.

for real, i stopped listening to youngsta cos of that. was a bit of a nightmare at FWD as well

Pretty much.
Some amazing concepts just left to go stale by abusing a sound.
It's got so bad that even if someone had to produce something Dungeon without the lowpassed synth growl, it would battle to shine through unless it get's pushed hard by one of the big DJ's.

Dungeon is to Dubstep what neurofunk is to DnB. Good fun and genuinely interesting when it first came about, then a gradual slide into regurgitated copycat tracks with identikit vibes and layout, before finally ending up in some sort of inbred g33k fest where producers try and out re-sample one another under a tidal wave of sub-par horseshit.

That's exactly what it's become.
All about one-upping now.

Dungeon sucks, brostep sucks... just make the whole thing SNH/System roll call.

So whats next do you reckon? Its a real shame because dubstep was supposed to be about almost infinite possibilities and now its about Bro or Dungeon. Thats it.

Doesn't matter. It'll turn to shit rather quickly once someone makes bank on it.

Music moves in cycles, always has, always will. Only difference is that the cycles are getting faster as a result of Internet saturation. What would take months even years to migrate and evolve from a small local scene can now be out into the world via the click of a mouse. Ideas bounce around the world far faster than they would pre-Internet, and as a result get staler quicker and imitated more as a result of reaching a (potentially) larger audience much faster.

When more producers start drawing on their influences outside of Dubstep instead of inside of it...trying to replicate a Dungeon track when you all you do is listen to Kryptic Minds cuts as a source of inspiration is a) inbred as fuck and b) largely redundant as you'll be forever chasing your tail.

Photek once said that all someone's style is, is what they listen to outside of the genre they're trying to produce. When all Dubstep producers do is listen to other Dubstep tracks, that pool will naturally diminish in both depth and quality.

I would not categorize Dungeon as shit though.
I most certainly won't group it with Bro.

Wise words wub. Even if dubstep dies, it's made a considerable mark on music in the short time it was around. Hell, even trance is incorporating elements of dubstep now. I highly doubt that anything as innovative as dubstep was is going to be coming around anytime soon either.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say either jungle comes back in a big way or a new breed of house.

I played at an outdooor Psy part this wknd again.
It's safe to say I have not heard the genre evolve in the last 6 years.
I still play fairly forward thinking music but just buying new tunes was
painful trying to sift through track after track with the same sounds.

I still really love kryptic minds and tbh even though maybe they're the forefathers of that whole sound I don't really view them as being part of it, idk

sleeper and district's stuff puts me to fucking sleep tbh

biome is great but I can't really listen to many of his tunes anymore because so many artists sound exactly like him and I want to break my fucking head in listening to it


this is after really digging the sound for a little while and listening to a lot of yunx minimal mondays sets
