Gurn- I'm definitely a fan of it. There isn't a whole lot of progression in the first minute or so, but that is not bothersome and I'm fairly certain that you intend to append to this, anyway. Great job. :) The repetition does begin to annoy me at around 4:30.
Ada- I enjoyed it. However, as Gurn said, it resembles an excessively typical style. It's great as-is, but I suggest adding some unconventional sound effects or signal processing. Great job to you, as well :)
Lightshapers- I haven't messed with that style in quite a while :o ... This does not get boring. The lyrics reminded me of a hilariously awful rap song my cousin made, though xD. Great job to you :) I don't like how often the less-processed version of the vocal clip is implemented, so perhaps reduce that a little bit. I like the song :4:
6exx- Impressive! The melodic incompatibility between various components sounds great, for some reason. I like it quite a bit. I have no suggestions or criticism for this. Fantastic!
Dotcurrency- Very well-done. I haven't found any flaws in production. While I don't necessarily tend to listen to that style of music, I am impressed. Good work :)
Crimsonghost- I think you could make the midrange sounds considerably stronger, but I'm unsure whether or not that would drown out other components of the track. I love the melodic leads :D
Mthrfnk- This is amazing! The mix is a bit offcenter, though, due to the piano being panned to the right. Perhaps take that stringy higher-pitched pad (?) sound and pan it slightly to the left... or maybe split the sound into different versions with different properties and pan a single version of the sound considerably to the left. The panning issue doesn't necessarily even need resolution, I'm enjoying this as-is :D

Something I worked on a little bit. I've barely begun making it and would appreciate a few opinions regarding its current state.

Not here to get any feedback as I have no new shit to post at the moment, so just mooching about.

smalltock I wasn't really feeling the intro on this track and was about to stop playing it, but that bass that comes in, when it drops down at 60secs - damn! for some reason I really like that sound! The beats however, I wasn't really feeling - I feel thay could have a lot more too them.

@smalltock - sounding great man, i feel it can do with more percussion, and some eq on the bassline, as it sounds like its flooding, also some more variation on the bassline would make the track more diverse.
@Gurnumsbug - cant say i like that style of dubstep, although, seperating those mids from the sub bass will do wonders!
@ada - you need to leave feedback mate, your song sounds large though, very clubby, i think the kick drum side chaining effect is abit to prominant tho.

Been working on a more 'swampy' style, trying to avoid the term filth, leave feedback and follow on soundcloud if possible, i havnt got any followers :]

@Ada - has a nice thumpy club sound. Mix sounds pretty clean.

@Gurn - I like the stompy / driving sound this has. Could use some variation to keep it catchy.

@Small - When all the parts kicked together toward the end I was digging it. Wasn't really feeling the beat up till then. The bass has a pretty rough edge but it plays well with the higher synth.

@Gummi - Nice. It's got that tear out sound without being screechy and annoying. The mix is pretty clean too. Feeling it.

Been working on this one a bunch lately and I'm feeling pretty good about it so far. Still needs some tweaks before it's done, just wondering what others hear in it.

@ dial_back : Nice old school intro, I like the vocal samples. Imo the kick could be punchier in the low end to blend with the sub. The high end synths are okay, but could use a little more progression. I'd also recommend apnning some instruments, specifically your hats, the perc sounds lonely panned so far out haha. I'd also develop the bass as it gets repetitive despite the fact you change other elements.

@gummi: I like the synth thats filtered in, and the intro seems nice and airy. It definitely needs more enrgy though up to the drop, perhaps have a mild break, filter in the synths with a kick/snare build then the drop. Midrange sounds good, perhaps a little too much high end, and the pads seem louder than the main bass. Really like the drums too.

@ smalltock: Intro is is quite "dystopian", like 80s sci-fi haha. I'm not a fan of the kick/perc/breaks tbh, it feels jarring and there's no energy pushing the track forward. The drop is way off imo, the bass is too loud and the track is just empty sounding - you need more layers imo.

@Gurnumsbug: Love the intro, very french-house, I like that snare, it's really like the ones Kavinsky uses, short but sweet - I'd be interested in that sample haha :P Imo the intro drags a little, strings filtered in behind those arps with a filtered phasing saw bass would really begin to sound epic imo. On the "drop" the bass is too muddy imo, try cleaning up the arps and using a dedicated sine with a low passed saw an ocatave above, perhaps sidechained too? Overall I like it but it needs a lot more structuring and progression.

@Ada: Sounds a lot like your other stuff, quite nice, I'm guessing you're quite good at piano as your stuff is always so nice and melodic haha. For me the drop needs to be cleaner and the kick needs to be punchier. Atm the low ends lacks clarity, but given the right mix this could be quite the "club anthem" hah :6:

So I've spent a lot of time on this track, I don't really know how since it's not that complex... I just keep re-doing bits and remixing parts. Currently working with a singer to do vocals on it but I'm still not happy with the sidechaining or the mix and I'm looking for any other feedback too :(

@Gummi- Really liking the smoothness of the track, no rough ends.

@Smalltock- Mellow and deep, like the barrier reef

Been creating hypersaws and made one that I quite like. The chords have to be the best ones I've made  .

Also tell me about my snare, I only have made good dnb snares but completely SUCK at making reverb-y snares.

@LogiSpark: They sound good, except for it seems very wet on the reverb try and take it back a bit.

@dial_back: Everything sounds good for the most part. Maybe make the sub deeper by a hair, but up to you.

@Gurnumsbug: That white noise is really loud. On the drop the kick and snare do not come through at all. I think the introduction of the hi hats was really late and I would of done it after the 8 bars of the drop. overall just work on your mixing skills, maybe look up a few sidechain compression tutorials to help you out if you don't know how. Kool synth don't mean to bash you hard just lots of work to be done.

Just a ting I was working on probably going to change the drop completely, but mostly looking for feed back on intro and it's mix. Also if I stay in key (G minor).

part 2.. wanna know how to improve the mixdown and if it's still too repetitive.. also maybe how I can improve the drop in
Soundcloud
Hah thanks, I spent a while on the mix, I'll tweak to add a little more bass. Currently trying to free up some mix space to add vocals in from a singer :) It'll probably be a free download when it's done.

Your track is really sounding nice man, definitely got a Daft Punk Tron-esque feel to it, I feel like I'm travelling into the grid haha. The percussion is subtle, perhaps the kick needs to be harder, if it's not sidechained to the bass I'd suggest that. Still loving the snare. This version seems better in terms of repeatability - there's more variation/progression. The one thing I'd add is vocals, some vocoded/bitcrushed vocals on the breaks would set this off imo. :4:

@gurnimsbug- Loving the progressions man! the i would experiment with putting the bass an octave lower see if that sounds good to you or not because imo it sounds a bit too high. also i think the lead could be a bit brighter somehow. A trick I like is to duplicate the lead track, highpass at like 400-600, and then add some redux or bitcrusher. then add a little verb and put on a stereo delay with the times set in miliseconds instead of beats and put like left on at 7 millis and right at 14 millis. this will make this track pan out hard on both sides and feel very wide. layer it with what you already have and see how it sounds!
@Mthrfnk - Are you secretly madeon? Killer funky house track here Man! only critic is during the kick build i think it feels a bit too empty, try adding a riser in massive like this: open massive, disable all osc. enable noise and set to metallic. set colour to 0 and then add a bp filter with low bandwidth and mid res. add an envelope lifting up the bp cutoff and noise colour very slowly, like almost at max length on the attack. 'verb it and see how it sounds!
@gummi- great melody/ stomp style you got going on.. reminds me a lot of cuplrate! i think the mid bass is a bit too quiet tho.. maybe add some excitement or try widening upo the tops on it! great work so far tho!

MY tune, sort of a french styled liquid funk tune... intros no where near done btw

mthrfnk: Always good to see a familiar face. Loving the track, very ambient, and has a lot of presence. Only things I can complain about, is the drop break, I think it could drop smoother, with a hit before it comes back in, like a snare, or kick. I love the birds, and rain in the intro though. I can close my eyes, and picture my self in another place! hahah :W:

Bassf4ce: The intro up until 0:13 sounds okay. But you should introduce a new melody or something right when that kick hits on 0:13. The kick @ 0:25, into the roll sounds off beat, or 1 to fast. The drop I think comes in to quick also. I think the idea of the overall track is pretty cool, but the drop lacks a ton in weight, and fullness. Add some growls, or lfo/modulated wobbles. The kick and hi hat pattern could use some variety also.

@Gurnumsbug: Pretty minimal and video gamey (I like). It feels like a Daft Punk song. You should get a singer, and vocode some vocals. That would sound awesome!

@Scy7he:I like the dirty south/grime feel. The vocals at some parts don't fit, or sound slower/faster than other parts. The overall track has some weight to it, but I feel it's pretty minimal, and could use a lot more fill, to make the track sound fuller. I like the initial idea, but maybe add a break somewhere during 0:54 - 2:47

@dj Cappa: Really digging this track. It's chill, and very atmospheric. Love the random, yet rhythmical changes. Where did you sample the vocals from? and also that weird noise @ 0:46. I think the transition from 2:10 back into the melody could be smoother.

I am going to be dropping my first single under this new persona soon, so I want to see what people think before I release it. Critique the usual. Mix, Production, What you feel it lacks, or needs.

Thanks!

@mthrfnk: The melody is great and catchy. The mix is super clean but as a personal preference I would like it more if the drums were more raw/colored to bring even more life into it. It would be hard though as it would mess up the mix. The drum thing probably wouldn't even matter if a vocal does indeed go over the track, as that should give it the sort of added realness that would make it even better.

@Scy7he: I'm not sure but I feel like that vocal isn't exactly fit for the exact way you have the instrumental laid out, the beat seems to clash with it at some times.

Heres a new tune that I'm working on, I made what is already there pretty quickly but I have spent hours trying to figure out what I really want to do with the drop. I have had a ton of ideas that would sound good but my mixing ability and ability to accurately synthesize all the stuff in my head haven't allowed me to do any of it :cornlol: . There is a sort of filler melody on top of the second loop of the drop but I don't really think that's the direction that I want to go with it, sounds too techno trance standard housey. Looking for feedback on anything.

@gurnimsbug- nice track mate, progressions sounding great, some useful feedback for you for the mixdown on your drums, send them all through a drum bus and put a bit of drive on there from a saturator, and also compress it with fast attack and slow release, waves ssl eqs are great for getting your kicks and snares to punch through too
@scy7he- not my cup of tea but i can appreciate the production behind it, nice sounds on the drop
@djcappa awesome drums, real liquidy style percussion, melodies sounding nice but id remove that sound youve got over the bass on the first drop, it just sounds a little out of tune to me!
@coolschmid the arpeggiated bass from the start is up my street, sounds like deadmau5 on a good day. im a deep head though im afraid so i dont agree with the big room electro synth on drop but thats just my taste!

heres mine, i know the vocals could do with a db or two but ill do that tomorrow, any feedbacks welcome!

@luke Raith: I would change that clap for a different one. It's got a bit too much splat. I really like when all the drums and hats come in. It's got a really nice feel to it. I like the flange effect but I wouldn't use it on your clap. The vocals fit really well into the track; It just needs to be able to change up at some point. Take out some things, and some things and play with the melody a bit. Nicely done.

@coolshmind: The first thing that I'm reminded of here is deadmau5' strobe. So much so that I feel like you copied the melody and just changed it a bit. It's really catchy no doubt, it just sounds a little to close in sound and structure to me. the sounds are great; although some of the main sounds could probably stand to have a bit more reverb to get a generally bigger sound.

@dj cappa: Really nice layering of breaks. The sub hits real nicely. In all honesty I like pretty much everything about this track. Really nice work

now here is my newest Wip.

The rhythm of the saw arpeggio thing is the same as it is in strobe and the song is in the same key, but I made it based off of this simple piano song that I made. The chord progression is completely different.

Soundcloud

When I was making it I wanted the arpeggio thing to sound more like what is in porter robinson's "language", but instead it turned out sounding alot like the style of deadmau5, and he's definitely an influence on my music as I listen to him alot.

Do you think its a bad thing that the style of the song in those parts sounds too close to the style of strobe? Should I try changing it to make it sound different (but keeping the melody obviously)?

Thanks for the feedback.

@gurnumsbug. sounds great man! i am really digging the change-up round 2:35. the melodies are perfect in this tune! for the last drop where the kick and snare come back i would see how a hi hat or something sounds in there, your preference tho. great work man!
@Coolshmid: loving the melody man, sounds great! i think the piano sound itself needs a bit of work though.. Its really hard to get a good sounding virtual piano and i think yours could be improved on.. the melody is fantastic still!
LukeRaith: Daaamn I'm loving the originality on this tune man! feels so organic with some proper burial vibes. I think the clap has a great tone to fit in with the track, but it needs more work on the mix, its a bit to prominent. Ive listened to this tune a good 5 times tho, cant wait to hear it finished!

my tune... first time in a while ive dipped into electro, but i think this came out pretty sick!
transition out of the drop is in very early stages, and havent added a proper intro yet, just got the buildup
