Get on this, I'm a massive Coltrane-head but I'd say this is my personal best of all his work.. I don't think any of his other songs reach the same spiritual climax as this recording..
the bit from about 1:36 to 2:00 gets me EVERY time, especially "that" note, you'll hear it.. beautiful

Love jazz of all kinds. From the classics to some fucked up free noise mess.
I'll start with Mulatu Astatke, Ethiopian jazz from 70's, absolute genius!

Anyone read Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison? Lot to do with jazz and the Harlem Renaissance; curious to hear your opinions on it.

Definitely!
Night Dreamer is one of my favourite Jazz albums and song.
I have been trying to wrap my head around Wayne Shorter's album All seeing eye but its pretty Avant guard but their is something in the music catching my ear so I listen to the album almost every week but I see can't figure out what it is.
Also been digging Stan Getz.

Black Nile is a fucking tune. There is a Paul McKee arrangement that is fiyah.
Right now I'm on a real Marcus Miller tip. The man is a bonkers musician.

This is one of my most prized records along with others of this same lineup which includes some Herbie Hancock records.
I had coined these records as Space Jazz when I discovered them in the '90's and have heard others call this Cosmic Jazz, so I guess we were on the same wavelength.
Heady avant garde Jazz with analog synthesizers with some mean rhythms.

I've listened to a lot of Jazz but can't ever really get into it, either too much like background music or too noodley and showing off technical skills for the sake of it and a bit uncomfortable to listen to.
I do like stuff along the lines of: Jazzanova, Herbaliser, Bonobo, Saint Germain, Cinematic Orchestra, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Funki Porcini...... Any similar recommendations?
