i think one of the things that could save dubstep from this is the fact that a good majority of the people making the music, i.e. the "idols" to these kids, are very well aware of these types of demographic analyses.

people like bassnectar make it a staple point to express the media's power.



as long as we, the artists, keep this knowledge in the forefront, our culture should remain untouched.

of course that's just hopeful thinking. we've got people like chase and status making tunes with rihannah.

Yeah but hes also made it a point as of late to exploit it as well. He's on his way into our town to play a mainstream venue for a bunch of little kids. I opted not to go, when my little brother brought me home one of the flyers from his 8th grade friends n said 'Yeah I figured this would piss you off'.

I dont mean to sound like a preachy old punk (I feel like my Caustic Christ years are showing a bit...) but this stuff will forever lead to the spiralling downward of the creative content, n the general effects that being the new 'trend' has on music.

Punk Rock became trendy again in the early 2000's with the sale of bands like Antiflag and the rise of emo... look at what happened.

Now a days, watch those trendster 14 yr old kill the music kids n see what they are wearing and listening to. Thier covered in kandi and dieing to be the subject matter in that stupid 'rave girl' song...

Its like you said, we as a scene have to be consious of the bad these major entertainment exploters can cause. It seems so many people desire the paycheck and the fame. but noone ever thinks of the greater harm to the scene.
