I probably shouldn't go on forums late at night. We can talk about grime later.
"Joe Muggs in late night drunken rant Shock! Horror!"
Hahaha word up. :D It's been a while.

The point still totally stands... The topic is about grime and dubstep, the brostep reference in the title was jokey and clearly not the central issue, and it pisses me off when every thread gets derailed into THREE PAGES of nit-picking about microgenres. THIS THREAD IS ABOUT GRIME AND DUBSTEP.

There's been some really good posts too tho.

Anyway, I'm battering my hangover into submission by rinsing the Lewi White & Kozzie track at maximum volume, don't really care about anything else right now :)

Grime and dubstep go together like peanut butter & jelly. This new strain of grime is really exciting, but I am more so feeling the producers who have came from grime and are now doing something different, like DVA, geeneus, etc...

Next time you want to have a serious discussion that doesn't devolve into a brostep argument, don't ask if something can "save us" from it and then backpeddle like you weren't throwing rocks at a hornets nest

part of what boggles me is the idea roots dubstep needs saving from brostep.

Outside of a very select agro/tearout/type folks, you likely have more change in the seat of your couch than these labels have in their bank account.

Just kinda irks me that the people who support people like Mala, Skream, Benga, Loefah, etc etc act like they are in some kind of underdog status. These dues are running things and have been for some time and are in no danger nor do any of them feel threatened by this 'other' type of music.

I think you're missing the point to be honest...

no underdogs here, i like all kinds of music.

swindle has really been doing it for me in terms of new grime production. I have a question for anyone in the know, does S-X, of woo riddim fame, have any other tunes out there?

I don't think there is a point other than some fans are about as rational as football bat

was listening to old kode9 rinsefm fwd show sets the other day and he was pretty much 50/50 back then and it worked then brilliantly so i dont see how it couldn't work now. look at the 'purple' guys from bristol, all making grime afaic and it works perfectly with dubstep.

although i'm more interested at this point in the combination of grime & funky taking place over the past 2 years-ish.

I personally think all this arguing over which style is best etc if fucking inane, and childish....but there you go.

D Double E tune you mean? Swerve I believe...I presume the same Swerve that has a 'Hip Hop' show on Kiss fm...but don't quote me. He's remixed the Marco Del Horno ft. P Money too. Have a little look for that...P kills it, as usual.

i hear what y'all are saying about the simple drum patterns used over and over again, same thing made me tired of DnB, but what you gonna do? just gotta keep doing you
yer but its not though is it?! It's cold, souless, synthetic, discordant music made for 14-16 year old boys to 'try' and rap over.
if that's really what you think then you're welcome to your opinion. I grew up listening to all kinds of music, so have never been the type to write off an entire genre with one bold generalization

please post links to your favourite grime tracks and we'll take it from there.

1. Check out some of the stuff ive been releasing on my label butterz here - http://www.boomkat.com/labels/?id=7048

2. Check out the Rinse FM show if you wana hear some of the other 2010 instrumental grime we have been pushing - http://rinse.fm/?s=elijah+skilliam&x=0&y=0
