re: Clownstep

Well, clownstep was actually sort of real - in the sense that it was a slur applied to super-swingy "circus" beats in DnB. It was first uttered by Dylan on some forum (not DOA I think - Arena? Anyhooz...) about Shimon and Andy C's tune "Bodyrock" and while not really intended as an insult per se rapidly got used by ultra-orthodox DnB purists to anything like this.



Others further explored the sound....



And funny enough, it was right controversial for a hot minnit in DnB back in the day. People freaked out: "a different kind of beat? Oh no! We can't have that!" (Bearing in mind that there'd already been feudin' over jump-up vs. breaks vs. 2-step blah blah blah and which was the 'real' DnB riddim )

Which makes all the drumstep hate sound kinda retarded, funny, or banal depending on how you wanna look at it.

Sadly they do, however what they class as 'chillstep' just sounds the same as any of the broish stuff out there. Youtube is rife with stupidity.

lol, everything about chillstep, from the name to the production techniques is cheesy as hell. it's like the inverse of brostep, everything about is really stupid and awful just in the opposite way
