Maybe that was a bit uncalled for, but I still think the tunes he's done are incredibly average and represent most of the boring stuff I hate about dubstep.

The only thing I hate when I'm out is the crappy warm-up DJs that always get booked. They kill the energy right before the big names, like, every time.

It sounds quite ignorent to say that you 'learnt beatmatching' in one weekend. Ok, maybe you learned to mix two house tracks together or something. But it is really hard to mix other genres and even harder to mix accross genres - I doubt you could do that in a weekend. I've been practicing DJing for going on 2 years now and I'm still shit at a lot of beat matching.

I don't like N type at all. Seen his twice with a 6 months spread, and i had the feeling it was the exact same set. He plays out all of the classics (katy b, ..) which can be nice but seriously, he didn't do anything crazy. I don't get how he became that popular.

Other than that... there are plenty of dope ass DJs who only DJ. Much respect to anyone who masters their craft.

iam always amazed, when reading interviews and such, how humble most of the innovators are compared to the big fish in a small town dj's, showboating, insecure, and socially inept doing this to get laid or something, all twisting knobs with maximumbass face.
gaslampkiller is a good dj some would reckon, though i think its all theatrics, overall average producer.
dj shadow's diminishing returns mix, acapellas over other peoples instrumentals, cut and scratch in cue, tell me thats easy.

That aside, crissy criss is the best dj i ever saw play. You don't have to have mad skills to be a good dj.

Djing is more than beatmatching.

I own no mixing equipment and never practice mixing.
I have an ear form music and know how to mix.

Too many folks spending big bucks on equipment to call themselves a DJ with absolutely no skill at all.
If you DJ for the love of the music, it will come through in your mix.

Ehh, they make their bread and butter.
I have a problem with it when they get egotistical, like I should suck their dick because they know how to beatmatch.
