I think that before the vocoder, he says it in a low almost death metal voice.

I did it before with this pitch changer called Mod Change or something. But it's really nothing but recording your voice and putting some maybe reverb and chorus on it and pitching it down.

I always thought he put it through the same FX chain as his basses, and this is what came out. Has that same crunch, ya know?

Quite a few threads on this in the last couple of months, try a search with the same words used in this thread title. Plenty of info and links in them.

Hey, would really appreciate some help with the stabs coming around 02:30 and throughout the song.

Thanks!

Also any tips on other Fitzgerald-y pads/synths would be appreciated :)

Anyone have any advice on creating pad sounds used in future bass (whatever you want to call it) style productions from girl unit, lvis etc?

Also just general tips on this style are helpful. thanks!

Hey guys! There's an awesome sound I've been catching with a few songs for some time now, I've put a lot of thought into how the sound is made but can't seem to get my head around it quite well enough. The best way for me to describe this certain sound is to relate it to a bass wave running into a ladder. My best guess on this is that they are either using a performer on massive with square waves and, some added reverb on the low end. I could see myself using this sound in some very very creative ways, anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks

Requake - Rockmelt

Medison - Harry feat. Skrein (Bare Noize Remix)

LaBrat - Space Monkey

So I guess you use massive?
Then the most important thing is that after you built your basic sound and you are about to apply the lfo you need to change the waveform to the one to the left of the sine wave (ramp?)
If you still have problems feel free to write me.[/quote]

Thanks for your response. I use massive, reason, and ableton. I changed the waveform but it's still not coming out right, I think they are using a lot of fliters. I'll have to keep messing around with it.

Ok here is what I did to make that ladder sound:;
It doesn't really matter what waveforms you use, just select a lowpasss filter and apply an evolving envelope to the cutoff and the resonance.
Apply a lfo to the amp and set it to the ramp form.
Also imo it sounds much better if you apply Phase to your oscillator

Hey there,

I'm currently totally hooked on zedd's remix of nice sprites scary monsters.
I especially like the part after the hook when the kinda dubstep kicks in.
I know the basics of making a good dubstep base etc, but I'm really stuck at trying to produce something similar to this song, I just don't know where to start.

Can anyone please guide me in the right direction. Any help is welcome.
For instance the first sound he kicks in with. How can I create one like that ? But also all the other sounds he uses and how he arranges them, its really magic to me.

Here's The song + part I'm talking about:

Hope someone can help
Thanks !

Sounds pretty simple. It's just a pure sine wave. Then go to the amplitude envelope (in massive envelope 4 is automatically the amplitude envolope). You want a fast attack, medium to fast decay, low sustain, and a long release. This should do it for you.

Sounds like some sort of sampled wind instrument. Try find a sample of a wind instrument that sounds similar and stick it into a sampler (such as logic's EXS) Then process, reverb, chorus possibly till it sounds similar.
