Surely there's enough people on the streets to kill.
Haha you guys should try playing a GTA game as a pacifist character. It's actually really fun and challenging. I found some hippie skin mod for the player in San Andreas and played the whole game without killing people. Well, as much as I could play as I tried to avoid the missions that require killing or theft. Rockstar has said before in response to accusations of promoting violence that "you don't have to harm innocents in the game" or something along those lines, so I wanted to test that out.
I tried driving around normally for a while but people jump infront of your car it's ridiculous, you run people over by accident
Yeah I did kill a few pedestrians so I tried to play even more realistic and go slow, stop at lights etc. Still ended up running over some people getting away from people shooting at me. It got too tedious though and I quit. I still have the savegames somewhere though. Might try again at some point.

also if someone runs me over i have no choice in gta4 but to shoot them through the windscreen in the head its the only appropriate response

i'd be upset if they make it difficult to do tat sort of thing. gta is all about running riot with a gun if you want to. there's talk of having moral choices in the next one and that effecting the storyline in a bigger way then before. i hope they dont fuck with the concept too much though! also multiple playable characters (which is on the cards, apparently) is not a good idea!

Moral choices and having different outcomes would be great I think, and pretty much make multiple playable characters useless. It would increase the replay factor like tenfold since you could play again or load up different save games with different choices resulting in different story lines/outcomes.
Plus there's always mods, though I hope they don't lock down modding even more. Modding is something else that increases replay factors for YEARS.

if you want that surely you'd play fallout or something like that. gta isnt about that as far as i'm concerned. not saying it should be in it at all but only to a lesser extent!

gta should always remain a game which you can turn on, steal a car, kill people and get in a gun fight

I love Fallout, but there's no vehicles
Actually there's some interesting vehicle mods I've tried, but it's buggy as hell.
I do agree though, they should keep it as is. I just think it wouldn't be so bad if they did that, but hopefully they still have a "classic mode" or something.

Favorite GTA pastime is hitting jumps on a motorbike.
First time landing a backflip over the channel in Vice City was life changing.

did he not fall off when you got to the apex? or is that just in 3?

- I don't think all buildings should be accessible. 1. Loading and framerate is likely to get raped. 2. Is there any actual need? A few more buildings would be cool, e.g. more touristy sort of things.
- Return of the ability to buy safehouses (w/ garages), a little feeling that you're building an empire makes you feel like a bo$$. I mentioned earlier, but buying clubs and shit would be a cool side game, with mini story lines coming from it. For example, you could be roaming around then you get a phonecall about a bad customer or something then you deal with it (kill them probably). Little things that don't have a massive impact but fuel longevity is what I'm after.
- Customisation, about the same level as SA, but I don't want any of this fat/skinny/muscle BS. Clothes and hair-dos are fine.
- Keep the mobile phone, but the ability to put it on silent would be cool.
- Online co-op, don't care if it's a new campaign or not, just make it happen Rockstar. Please.
- Another quality narrative, IV's seems to have polarised a few but I thought it was absolute genius. A few more decisions would be awesome but none that impact to greatly or override the charm of GTA.

The trick is to tailwhip while doing the flip.

Trailer coming tomorrow I think? Can't wait. Finally got around to playing Red Dead and there's a lot of things that could be brought across. GTA wouldn't make sense as a good guy but the idea of honour is cool. Can't wait to find our the setting.

To kill people?
as I see it, it limits the sandbox thing a whole lot that every front of every building is just a huge wall. I want to go everywhere in an open world. Not being limited to the streets. And to me loading times isn't a problem at all - as long as it only loads when driving over a bridge like in Vice City. (maybe in SA as well? can't remember)
If the game brings up a loading screen every time I would enter a building then no - of course that wouldn't be cool.
Surely there's enough people on the streets to kill. Every building is so pointless in my opinion. What would be the point of being able to go into every single generic looking house. Maybe if they had some more upmarket houses and mansions to explore I could see past it. I don't think 100% of buildings is very realistic. I'd be happy with something like 20%
I agree, 100% would be too much. Maybe like... 50%. or even 25% would be cool.
The trailer isn't out yet though..... Should be out sometime today.

Hmm, just read through this thread. San Andreas was lame, really hope it's not a continuation of that story. They clearly realised it was retarded too, getting rid of the all the gyms/bmxs/jetpacks.
I guess what I loved so much about GTA was the parallels with the great mob movies and characters. I know they can't just do Tommy Vercetti over and over but with all the new features and graphics I would love a newer game of that style.

like mafia?
I personally thought San Andreas was great.
Even the fact that you had to eat before you went cross country.

It would actually be cool to ride a horse through LA and slicing peoples head of using a sword

Rio would be sick, especially if your character can learn jiu-jitsu and capoeira as his combat styles (kinda like how in san andreas you can learn boxing, kung fu and shit)
They had a GTA in Rio already.
It was called Fast & The Furious 5.
Grand Theft Auto : Sahara Desert. Riding Llamas would be fucking sick. I'd be blacked out in my turban gear.
