I like some of that audio stuff I'm seeing in bitwig... REALLY don't like working with audio in live, though. We'll see, gotta demo. In the latest videos there were really only MINOR differences from live. Rock, what do you feel looks like cubase? I know really superficially, the little tabbed clips kind of look like logic.
Mks, lez keep in touch about audio drivers. I'm really concerned about win and mac, and the direction they are taking. I'd really like to get both of them out of my life. But audio interface drivers are my issue... Same with vst's in linux... I guess that is a big issue too.

To me, it looks and operates a helluva lot like ableton. But that linux thing G, for those of us trying to extricate ourselves from the jaws of the lion.

I see may have to try the demo, don't see it tearing me away from ablayton tho

Yeah, for the work that you do, ablayton is probably fine.

Bitwig kind of just fucked themselves by not releasing it before Live 9. Many people looked at it for rectifying mistakes made by 8, but it seems that despite Ableton's faults, people have gotten comfortable with it now.

You can collab with other producers on 1 project over the internet.....so me & you can collab in real-time if we both have bit-wig.
***But it's being released in the later version... I don't know if there is a restriction between collaborations with different operating systems/plug-ins...( Mac & PC version etc.)
Lets just hope for the best... I'm going to get this later...after reading reviews from the post-release date.

I'm saying this as someone who was looking forward to trying it by the way. It seemed like a more accessible version of Live to me. All the goodness of Ableton Suite without the clutter with a better price. But the release schedule was just awful. Had this come out a few months before the Live 9 announcement and the price drop, its release would've been more hyped.
I'll end up demoing it anyway.

Yeah. I feel you. They really did miss the bus. BUT
What does that tell you about them? About their ethics/business sense?
Rather than releasing a buggy product at the right time, they're releasing a stable product at the wrong time... I hope that is the case, if it is, it speaks well of where their head is.
Have not upgraded live.

It can definitely do stuff other DAWs can't do. There's some videos on their youtube channel where they show off some of them. That said, it's easy to get lost in features before you try it, i'll have to see for myself what it's like to work with it.

You can do that with Cubase 7 with VST Connect SE. It also has webcam feed as well. Pretty swarve.

Ableton have gone the wrong way for my liking. The latest version didn't add much and didn't fix some core issues such as PDC. The curved automation was lazily done, the new browser isn't great, and the interface and automation still go out of time when adding lots of plugins.
Bitwig adds several new and interesting features, such as VST sandboxing, drag and drop modulation, multi screen support, hybrid tracks, per note automation and other stuff. It really does look awesome, and if these features work as promised I'll switch in a heartbeat.

Oh no I personally respect their choice. I appreciate quality most of all and I'm happy to wait if it means getting a better product. But most responses to the release date of Bitwig have been either like 'why isn't this getting more attention' or 'oh this is still coming out?'
And maybe, in the long run, it could've been better to release a less complete -- but still functional -- version of Bitwig earlier. A poor launch can do a lot to stifle later development of the software with less cashflow to invest into it later on. But time will tell

Indeed it will. I look forward to the demo.
