SoundNuisance wrote:efence. Jump in next week bro. I will post a picture and everyone will have to make a sound the object will make under a circumstance. For example. If the picture was an elephant and you wanted to do the sound of it walking then you could do so. You would have to make the sound of the skin stretching, the "wind" moving fast and the hit on the ground. Then the dirt moving and etc.
another week missed i've been rebuilding new studio rig so my studio's been out for most of the week. next one i'll get in with my new rig(3.0 ghz x6,
8 gig of ddr3 and solid state drive)

I am so sorry guys, I am updating the front now for week 3. My laptop was being worked on (by me) and I couldn't do anything. Anyways, just check the front in 30 minutes and everything will be there. Week 3's challenge will have the deadline of February 28.

To be honest I find this weeks challenge a bit backwards/unpractical. I would never design a real life sounds thats easy to record, I'd just record it and beef it a bit. I do understand that this is just for fun and improving your synth and other skills etc bla bla, but it's unpractical. If you want a glass break for instance, then just record it and layer different takes and pitch them to make it sound even better and bigger, don't waste hours and hours trying it synth the sound, which will almost always be inferior to the real thing. That's how I'd approach it. Let me be clear that I'm talking easy to record sounds here, not a space shuttle launch or something, which can also be recorded but yeah good luck doing that. These sounds I would design using any means possible, transforming other recorded source material and maybe even synthesizing some parts etc. I'm not hating on this challange, I think it could be fun, but thats it, it's just a unpractical way of approaching sound design imo.

This being said I think I might do something for this as I've just had a pretty good idea. Would be fun to see if works out :6:

Yeah, I would never design a sound if I could record it. It really is no use, but you have to admit it will be fun. Remember, I said you can get any real life sound, you don't have to record it. But kudo's if you record your real life sound.

Yeah definitely.

Wait, what!? The discription says you must record/find online a sound of your choice and then recreate it. Quite confused now.

What I mean by the not having to record is that you can download online. And I am pretty sure I said it was a physical modeling challenge......
