My Dad finds it physically impossible to let a mention of "seagulls" go past without informing whomever said it that there's no such thing as a seagull, so to keep up with family tradition...

The big aggressive fuckers are usually Herring Gulls:

There are loads, but those are the two that are normally referred to as "Seagulls".
